Suffering is the unique experience of an individual in response to serious illness or life-limiting illness. Suffering has multiple domains including physical symptoms and psychosocial and spiritual aspects. The goal is to ease suffering from all these aspects. You will learn to differentiate between sympathy and empathy. We will help you to gain the skills to enter a therapeutic empathic relationship. We will guide you toward helping to bring order to chaos. Finally, you will hear about some personal experiences of illness and suffering that illustrate the unique lived experience.
