We hope that you've enjoyed the week so far and you're looking forward to the second week.

So, hello again and welcome to the end of the first week. We hope that you’ve enjoyed the course content over this week and are looking forward to the next week. It’s been great to see the robust discussions in each aspect of the course. In week one, we’ve defined the difference between infection and disease and how they are distinct from each other. Remember that we noted that not all disease is caused by infection, and not all infections can cause disease. We also considered our understanding of microorganisms, how they spread, and how they transmit disease. We also attempted to answer the question, why do we care? Why should we care?

The fact that infectious diseases accounted for three of the 10 top global causes of death around the world is a reason to care. We’re now going into the second week of the course and looking at outbreak challenges and how we respond to them. So we look forward to you joining us in the next week, in week two, where we’ll be looking at your personal part that you can play in the prevention of infectious disease globally and interpersonally.

It’s the end of the first week. We hope that you’ve enjoyed the week so far and you’re looking forward to the second week. Watch this short video in which Peta-Anne does a quick round up of the main points of the week.
