OLAKUNLE ALONGE: Hello. My name is Kunle Alonge. I’m an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. And I would like to welcome you to the lecture on global strategies for implementing programs, Insights from the Polio Eradication initiative. Into this lecture, you’re going [INAUDIBLE] to hear about the polio program– an introduction to the polio program, its complexities, some of the implementation challenges, and the implementation context in which the challenges happened, and some of the strategies that were deployed to address the challenges. The polio program is the largest of its kind, and it really provides the right opportunity to learn about implementation science.

Implementation science really focuses on not just [INAUDIBLE] gap, and today, you would see how the polio program can speak to implementation challenges, speak to implementation outcomes, speak to implementation context, and also help us to understand how to effectively bridge the [INAUDIBLE] gap with regards to effective implementation of programs, instructing their systems in the world.
