Well done on completing the first week of this online course! We hope the learning activities offered were engaging and useful in expanding your knowledge of the fascinating area of trauma and PTSD.
We explored the basic diagnostic criteria for PTSD, and looked at different presentations of the disorder. The cross-cultural variation of trauma and PTSD was discussed, in addition to the mental health treatment gap.
Next week, we focus on resilience, vulnerability and variation in PTSD. A range of models and risk and protective factors relevant to the disorder will be examined. A special consideration is given to the phenomena of resilience and post-traumatic growth.
