Achieng Kokonya, Child Protection Specialist at The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, is the course host and will be navigating us through this six-week course. Achieng’s child protection expertise focuses primarily on work with refugee populations and unaccompanied and separated children.
Your course co-host is Claire Whiting , Child Protection and Humanitarian Coordination Specialist. Claire has over 15 years of experience in Child Protection and Humanitarian Policy and Practice across a diverse range of humanitarian contexts globally.
Achieng and Claire will support discussions and generally be available to support your learning and social engagement in the course.
We strongly believe that this course will give you a holistic overview of the different dimensions of child protection within COVID-19 and other IDOs. The course is built to allow you to work at your own pace while engaging with other learners from around the globe. Why miss such an opportunity?
You are encouraged to view Achieng’s and Claire’s FutureLearn profiles and to follow them both so you can easily see any comments they make during the course.
Your Task
Now that you have met the team, let’s get to know each other. In the discussion below, leave a comment to introduce yourself to the course hosts and other learners by sharing your name and your reasons for joining this course.

  • “Like” comments if you agree with what has been said or if you found something particularly interesting.
  • “Reply” to comments to initiate a conversation.
  • Find replies to your comments in the “Replies” tab at the top of each page.
  • Select some fellow learners to “Follow” through the course by liking their profile.
Of course, don’t forget to “Like” the profile of your course host and guest speakers, too!
