Wrap-up

The wrap-up of the week summarizes the learning in Week 3 and gives a taste of what is to come in Week 4.

Well done for reaching the end of Week 3.

You are halfway through the course already! In Week 3, we started to explore measures to adapt child protection programs and approaches in light of the COVID-19 and other person-person transmitted infectious disease outbreaks. We looked specifically at:

  • Safeguarding and online safety.

  • Adapting group and individual activities for children’s well-being.

  • Preventing and responding to violence, abuse and neglect of children in the home.

  • Considerations for the care and protection of children deprived of their liberty.

It has been great to see the vibrant exchanges and discussions throughout the week.

You should now be familiar with:

  • Promising practice for safely engaging children online and offline.

  • Adaptations for implementing individual and group activities for child well-being during COVID-19 and other IDOs in line with public health measures in your own context.

  • Practical ways to support parents and caregivers in protecting children from violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect in the context of COVID-19 and other IDOs.

  • Actions for the care and protection of children deprived of their liberty during COVID-19 and other IDOs.

In Week 4, our focus will remain on adapting child protection programs, approaches and strategies during COVID-19. We will put the spotlight on case management, alternative care, working with communities and awareness raising.

We look forward to seeing you all again in Week 4!
