I wish I could tell you which is the oldest pub in Britain but unfortunately I can’t as there are many that make that claim.

You can watch this video to see the claims that three UK pubs make (Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, the Old Ferry Boat Inn and Ye Olde Man and Scythe) and one irish pub that claims to be the oldest in the world. But these three are far from being the only pubs that claim to be the oldest, or at least one of the oldest in the UK. Others include the Porch House, the Fleece Inn and the George Inn. The Historic England Blog on What is the Oldest Pub or Inn in England? goes into plenty more detail claiming to contain all the facts, but others will certainly disagree.

I think what we can agree on is that there are many old public houses in the UK which are fantastic places to take in some history, maybe see some ghosts and drink some excellent beer.
