Congratulations on completing week 2 of the Radiation Protection in Dental Practice course.

During this week we have:

  • Begun to explore the regulations relevant to work with dental X-ray equipment, IRR17 and IRMER17.

  • Looked at key appointments within a practice to monitor compliance with the regulations.

  • Reviewed a scenario and created a plan based on the guidelines.

  • Discussed how the regulations would still apply when someone outwith your practice has to operate or carry out maintenance on the X-ray equipment.

Next week you will cover the protective measures put in place to minimise radiation exposure for both patients and dental practice staff as well as taking a more in depth look into the X-ray equipment.

Be sure to reflect on your learning this week and think how this might be applicable to your practice.

In the comments, share your thoughts on this week.
