Hello. I’m Giles Foden, author of The Last King of Scotland and Professor of Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. I’d like to welcome you to this course, An Introduction to Screenwriting. This course will introduce you to the key elements of a professional screenplay. The course is derived from aspects of UEA’s renowned program in creative writing. Led by my colleague, Michael Lengsfield, it features instructors and recent alumni from the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing, A must for new screenwriters and for more experienced writers who want to develop their craft, it’s a mixture of basic theory, script analysis and practical exercises. Videos, articles and round-table discussions will offer you the opportunity to learn while engaging with others.
