This activity presents the “Great Acceleration”.

The Great Acceleration refers to the growth of human actions and impacts on the planet that accelerated after 1950. This is based on observed data at the global scale. In order to help make this meaningful, we go on to look into ways that all of us are connect to these changes through a few everyday actions.

After this activity you will:

  • know what the “Great Acceleration” refers to,
  • know some the factors that have supported the “Great Acceleration”,
  • see connections between our everyday actions and these global scale processes,
  • see how globalization can affect the scale of our actions.
