Introduction to Mindfulness

Okay, so I think you’re beginning to understand why we constructed this module in the way that we did. We started out by centering ourselves into the earth and then we talked about the Fourth Industrial Revolution and now we’re bringing it back to your interior and we’re going to talk about mindfulness. I have a couple of videos for you to watch. Mindfulness and meditation are often put together, but they can be looked at separately. Being mindful is being very aware of your thoughts and how you’re feeling in any given moment and how you can be grateful, even in difficult circumstances, and how you can pay closer attention to your thoughts and your feelings and how you are in the world.
So I hope you enjoy these next two mindfulness videos. We’ll ask you for some reflections on mindfulness and then we’ll be back after that to talk about trends in tech.

Mindfulness is a key soft skill that you should practice on a daily basis.

Mindfulness is defined as “a way of being that grows out of paying attention, on purpose and without judgment, to what is happening in the present moment.”

The busier our lives get, the more we need to intentionally set aside time to remain mindful and appreciative of the current moment. High pressure jobs in high-tech and business, especially in start-ups, can often have adverse effects on our mental states of mind.

Consider how we can be more mindful in everyday situations, how doing so can help us deal with disruption.
