Welcome to week 3! We have explored two social problems – poverty and inequality. Both are complex, have multiple causes and consequences. There are other social problems such as crime, environmental issues, homelessness and many more. But what can be done about these? This week we will consider the approaches taken to defining, understanding and attempting to tackle social problems, or at least improve people’s situations. Take some time to consider what you think are the key social problems you feel exist. What do you think can be done about them? What role could you play?

Now we look to move beyond poverty and inequality to consider other social issues such as environmental change, crime, health, and the world of work.
