Links to further reading & studies at LTU

This course provides an overview of stormwater management, but there is much more to learn in this field. Below, we have gathered some links to further reading and useful resources.

Design guidelines for stormwater control measures

• The SuDS Manual (UK, CIRIA publication C753F) contains guidelines for sustainable drainage systems with a focus on the UK. CIRIA also provides practical checklists for SuDS design.
• Water by design (Australia) provides information and design guidelines for water sensitive urban design.

Maintenance of stormwater control measures

• Stormwater control measure (SCM) maintenance considerations to ensure designed functionality by Godecke-Tobias Blecken, William F. Hunt III, Ahmed Mohammed Al-Rubaei, Maria Viklander & William G. Lord.

More about stormwater pollution

• The pollution conveyed by urban runoff: A review of sources by Alexandra Müller, Heléne Österlund, Jiri Marsalek, and Maria Viklander.

University studies (in Swedish)

• LTU also offers a distance course (in Swedish) about urban drainage every autumn.
• If you are considering an engineering programme in Swedish, LTU’s master programme in Civil and Environmental Engineering may be of interest to you.
