FutureLearn wins EdTechXGlobal Scale-Up Award
FutureLearn, Europe’s leading online social learning platform, has been named a winner in the Scale Up category at the 2019 EdTechXGlobal All Star awards, which identify the most innovative, fastest-growing and impactful global companies transforming the future of learning and work.
The six winners (across three categories) were announced at EdTechXEurope, Europe’s largest summit connecting the global learning community, on the 18th of June at The Brewery in London. The event saw over 900 thought leaders from over 60 countries join more than 135 speakers to explore ideas, innovations and technologies with a particular focus on 2019’s theme: ‘Learning is the New Tech’.
Having been whittled down to 20 finalists, FutureLearn, along with Touch Surgery, a UK based health-tech company, triumphed in the Scale Up category, which looks at education and training companies who have shown the most revenue growth momentum over the last three years (with a minimum revenue of $5million).
FutureLearn’s success follows the £50million investment from the Australian-based SEEK Group, thought to be the largest ever private sector investment in a European EdTech company.
The awards are determined by a global panel of judges, evaluating various factors including revenue growth, scale, innovation and market impact. For each category, the awards aim to showcase the top three start-ups across geography, segmentation and industry trends.
The six winners received prizes from the EdTechXGlobal All Stars partners to enable the continued growth of their companies. Partners included Interactive Pro, an online education facilitator helping higher education institutions and industry leaders enter the global online community; boutique technology-focused law firm Kemp Little; EdTechXHolding, the Nasdaq-listed SPAC exploring the future of education and training; and specialist investment and corporate advisory group, IBIS Capital.
