The Open University’s online course on FutureLearn platform shortlisted for ‘Best Cyber Security Education Programme’ by SC Magazine
FutureLearn is delighted that it’s partner and owner, the OU, has been shortlisted as one of three finalists by SC Media’s UK’s European Awards 2017, for its course on Cyber Security.
The shortlisted course, ‘Introduction to Cyber Security’ is available to join now and enables learners to understand online security, explaining to learners how they can protect their digital lives, whether at home or at work.
SC Media recognises the importance of cyber security and the growing demand for skills and talent in this sector. The Awards are focused on recognising and rewarding innovation in this area.
Arosha K. Bandara, Lead Educator of the MOOC and Senior Lecturer in Computing at The Open University, said: “It is great to receive recognition from the cyber security community for our course, which has introduced over 140,000 learners to a range of topics, from authentication and malware, to cryptography, network security and risk management. We want to support vital digital skills development for the next generation.”
Stephen Somerville, Director of Business Development at FutureLearn, said: “Cyber Security is among one of the biggest challenges facing the UK today, as recognised by the UK Government. It’s great that we’re able contribute towards providing a solution to this problem in order to educate people on how to protect themselves online. We’re looking forward to doing more on this as the demand continues to grow.”
Winners will be announced on 6th June 2017.
