Tommy Hilfiger partners with singer, DJ and LGBTQIA+ icon Kiddy Smile for intersectionality online learning course

Tommy Hilfiger has collaborated with online learning platform, FutureLearn, to inspire change by designing and creating access to a unique portfolio of social impact educational courses.

Tommy Hilfiger, which is owned by PVH Corp. [NYSE: PVH], is launching a free online course exploring intersectionality and what makes us unique with DJ, dancer, producer, and self-expression and identity activist, Kiddy Smile. With the shared belief that creating a better future begins with creating the best versions of ourselves, the course will be freely available on the platform across mobile, tablet and computer devices beginning March 22, 2021.

FutureLearn is transforming education with its meaningful course material, making online learning engaging, enjoyable and accessible. Through its thousands of courses taught by world-class universities and organizations including King’s College London and Johns Hopkins University, users can develop hobbies, new skills and career-changing expertise 100% remotely. The intersectionality course was researched, developed and shaped by a team of accredited subject matter experts to ensure it meets the highest educational standards.

This latest Tommy Hilfiger FutureLearn course dives into how factors like race, gender, and sexuality impact everyone’s lives through a mixture of storytelling, dialogue, new social knowledge and progress celebrations. Designed by certified subject matter experts and hosted by Parisian artist Kiddy Smile, the course can be completed at the user’s own pace.

In Week One:

  • Discover: Users learn about the term intersectionality and how it relates to other forms of discrimination.
  • Explore: Kiddy shares his personal story, and users discover why the concept of intersectionality was coined, what it means today and how it impacts people.
  • Dream: Kiddy shares his dream for society’s future and how communities are working towards implementing a more intersectional approach to life in Western societies.
  • Reflect: Users discuss what they have learned so far and how to move forward together for change.

In Week Two:

  • Discuss: Users look inwards and are encouraged to deeply assess what they have learned thus far.
  • Challenge: Kiddy further discusses his personal experiences regarding intersectionality.
  • Action: Users will learn more about the importance of safe spaces and how they bring communities together in the face of adversity.
  • Wrap-Up: Users will check their understanding through a short quiz and close the course with a final reflection.

To fully equip users with the tools and understanding needed to drive social change, Tommy Hilfiger has collaborated on four additional FutureLearn courses focused on body neutrality, sustainability, LGBTQIA+ allyship and community building. Through the platform, users will have a safe space to explore diverse experiences, share their personal dreams and unique challenges.
