Statement on Falsified Certificates in Afghanistan
FutureLearn has recently discovered that unauthorised third parties have offered falsified FutureLearn certificates to students in Afghanistan, for courses provided free of charge under FutureLearn’s Higher Education Initiative For Women And Girls In Afghanistan.
Certificates have been falsified and offered by OM High School Ltd and OM Edition Academy Organization Ltd, according to information and evidence provided to FutureLearn. The certificates, which have been stamped with their respective company logos, are branded with FutureLearn’s name and trademarks, meaning that at first glance, they appear to be legitimate and valid FutureLearn certificates.
We would like to emphasise that the provision of the courses under the Higher Education Initiative For Women And Girls In Afghanistan is of charitable nature and offered for free. FutureLearn has no partnership or relationship with any organisation in Afghanistan and does not offer the certificates provided under the initiative for the payment of a fee. These falsified certificates are invalid and have been produced without the authorisation or knowledge of FutureLearn. FutureLearn has taken legal action against OM High School Ltd and OM Edition Academy Organization Ltd, to stop them from providing further falsified certificates to students in Afghanistan and to protect the intellectual property rights and reputation of FutureLearn and its partners.
