  • We have already started using search tools, posters and videos from Study UK on our new website and have downloaded the Agent Guide.

  • Thank you so much for this excellent course. No doubt it will help me to build the skills and knowledge I need for my agency work. I will continue my professional development with British Council training for Education Agents and Counsellors to enable me perform better.

  • We will keep in touch with students we have helped and would be proud to nominate them for Alumni awards if the opportunity comes.

  • I always discuss with the students about the experience of studying in the UK, the answer is same as Helen has outlined. We also use this advantages to inspire potential students.

  • We inform students about employability support services and where they can get the information from the university careers websites. My agency also offer support in this regard, so it's a win - win for students.

  • We need to encourage our students to understand that we now live in a new global of world of shared values and shared interests and UK education is a big asset to play active role in this global world with world class education, networks to know and keep in touch for a life time.

  • We will advise the students to develop academically and socially and embrace values that will help them to succeed in work and society.

  • Covid-19 makes activities to become prominent online, the UK successful vaccination programme is a good boost. A hybrid of online and offline services for agents will bring good results.

  • University website has enough information about support services they offer international students so we make sure that students are well informed about the support services.

  • I totally agree with David. Mix of the teaching methods will bring the best results. I will send videos of teaching methods in the UK to the students to enable them have an understanding of how it works. In most African universities, students are taught to pass exams, here it's totally different.

  • The benefits of extra curricular activities for students include :, building relationships and Sense of belonging, team work, shared values and achieving shared goals. Extra curricular ac is one sure way to develop their social skills including leadership skills and self confidence. I will encourage them to research exciting areas in the UK to enable them...

  • We will educate them about the weather, culture, public transport, accommodation, etc and encourage them to embrace British values. Most of them from the commonwealth countries wouldn't have the challenge of language barrier.

  • Multicultural environment gives students a greater understanding of other students beliefs, attitudes, behaviours and this helps to improve engagement and adaptability and other interpersonal skills including academic skills.

  • Distance learning offers a lot, saves costs and reaches students even in remote places. Covid-19 has really changed education and training.

  • Brilliant course, a must have for Agents. Thank you so much for this excellent course.

  • Excellent and exciting course. This week I have learnt how to identify what the universities and institutions want from agents and how to approach the institutions with your business plan to get the desired results. The course is a must have for Agents.

  • The link doesn't seem to work. Please email me the link to zurumuche@gmail.com

  • I have had the experience of contacting UK institutions by email and through their websites, however I mentioned that I'm currently participating in the British Council Agent and Counsellor online training and would like to contact them for Agency. I think email and follow up by phone call is great.

  • Very informing and inspiring. The agency model is same - professionality, industry /market knowledge, marketing communication, transparency, building relationships, accountability, capacity, experience and expertise, standing out from the crowd, using technology and social media. 1. We will help the institution meet their recruitment targets by helping them to...

  • The Glasgow model is very interesting and exciting. Providing training and support to Agents, councillors and advisors by the UK institutions, including having tours of the cities as well and agent portals will help make agents work effective and efficient.

  • Study in the UK. What you need to know by Uche Okeke. I have posted my own slides about 22 slides on padlet.com to be considered for discussion and hope to learn more from the feedback I will receive. Thank you.

  • The advice is very useful. I will encourage them to do proper preparation and research and really understand what the interview is going to be like., understand different tests and what they are for and get more information from the university.

  • Specialist entry are about schools that have additional criteria in place to meet, and additional entry requirements. So they are selecting only students who can succeed in their particular type of education. Any student without the skills to perform at an interview for such universities does not stand any chance to be selected.

  • I think the average pass band score for the four skills is 7.5 for IELTS and C1 or C2 for CEFR. If the student is unable to meet this requirement, I will explain that some universities /colleges may also have alternative options where they provide English language lessons prior to commencing their degree courses especially if the candidates has been offered...

  • I think the most useful is tools to manage students applications. We are not a registered UCAS Centre yet, but hope to apply soon to become a registered centre for UK /International. The question I have is to get clarification if the services are online or face to face.

  • Very inspiring and exciting, no doubt this will help build the confidence of international students that they will secure job opportunities on completion of their education.

  • We are international agents and are familiar with the visa requirements process. We always use the relevant sources especially government website. We will also liase with partners for further information, guidance and support.

  • I currently do a reseller for Highfield education group e-learning, I ensure that all the communication is transparent and not altered, and i respect the terms of the agreement i signed with my principal. We are very straightforward and honest in our dealings, maintaining professional knowledge and professional service, acting diligently and fair to all...

  • I will let him know that inability to act professionally and adhere to ethical standards and best practice will bring loss of confidence of stakeholder groups and that will result to loss of the agency, and reputation damage.

  • I'm quite familiar with the students educational system in my country and the Visa process and have knowledge of the UK institutions and legal framework because I live in the UK and involved in education and training, however if there is gap, I will seek help from client institutions to enable me provide proper information, guidance and support to the students.

  • The similarities is meeting the expectations of both the students and the institutions. Listening to the students and the institutions will help the agent to provide proper guidance and support...

  • Agents need to know what their students want and how to meet their expectations, guide and support them to make their journey to the UK a fulfilling and exciting experience.

  • Agents need to know about the culture and credibility of the institutions and strive to adhere to guide to good practice.

  • UK is the best destination for International students, the benefits are many. Studying in the UK should be the best decision for anyone interested in a world class education, beautiful society, good and enviable future.

  • It was the right amount of information, very commendable.

  • A very interesting week 1, so far, so good. The UK is the perfect place for students to become the 'most confident, most promising version of themselves'. The Quality Assurance Agency and Teaching Excellence Framework helps credibility of the institutions and ratings. I have learnt about The Independent Higher Education-live, learn, work. New idea is to make...

  • British boarding schools are all about relationships between the children and their teachers, their house parents and themselves, that will lead on to networking friendships that will last a life time. The boarding schools have fantastic education, welfare and sports facilities that help the children to develop better.

  • We will find the information on their quality from the Quality Assurance Agency. Information on student satisfaction and employment rates from the Quality assurance and governance information, the credibility of the school. and the National Student Survey for Independent Higher Education.

  • Accredited English language schools, give an assurance of quality to international students who are taking or planning to take an English language course in the UK. I think, there was no inspections in 2020 or early 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

  • Of course UK is home of English language, thus attractive option for students looking to study English. The personalised teaching method is innovative to achieve desired results of communication, student success and integration in the society. Moreso, the UK is home to renowned writers and poets in addition to its rich history and landscape.

  • Searching for these information isn't difficult. I think ratings depends on the interest of international students. Some may be more interested in quality research especially those who would like the academic routes whereas others are interested in employment. I think both research rating and graduate employment rates will be more useful to prospective students.

  • The teaching excellence framework analyse the quality of teaching in UK universities so that students can have a means of assessing the quality of teaching in a particular university. Quality assurance is in house mechanism to assess quality of teaching in a particular university, it offers tools and mechanisms for universities to support their own...

  • University of London . I participated in their Diploma for Graduates in International Development. I learnt universities in Scotland offer 4-years degree courses whereas its 3-years in the rest of the UK. Also most universities in Scotland are relatively cheaper than other parts of the UK especially London.

  • Ranking is one sure way universities show off good quality teaching and research and employability of its graduates. Of course ranking helps influence decisions of international students who want to be identified with reputable universities. Ranking helps universities attract more students and resources but ranking does not determine individual students...

  • Ready global citizens means graduates who are equipped with world class education, skills , discipline and good morals to help make the world a better place. The evidence speaks for itself, because such graduates are employable and occupy prominent jobs in global institutions and organisations. Obstacles to preparing global citizens include poverty and lack of...

  • UK universities have got world class academics working in the UK universities and world class infrastructure to support research, sports and overall student development and well-being. Four of the top ranked universities in the world are UK universities.

  • Study UK toolkit has got some useful information about living costs, in London, and outside London areas, safety and security, school fees, job opportunities, etc, to help international students to make decisions, however, those of us in the UK will also help with answers to other concerns they may have. I'm sure this will help to reassure them .

  • There is nothing surprising, though they mentioned some reasons for choosing to study in the UK, I'm sure they realised they made the right decision, UK education is about the best in world, highly respected, in addition to the country’s values for human rights and freedom and opportunities .

  • UK is a champion for individual rights and freedom, safety and security, diversity, opportunities, world class infrastructure and social services including education and health care services, jobs, social security, etc.

  • I'm resident in the UK and we have offices in London and Nigeria. I think I'm in a better position to tell about life in the UK, unlike someone who hasn't been to the UK. UK is a dream country for anyone who believes in human rights and freedom, safety and security and opportunities. The NHS is one of the world's best in addition to Education, etc. This is a...

  • We are agents but our business is a social business whose motive is not profit but to help people discover why UK education is a must have and how it can make them have a confident and happier future.

  • Very important, a reflective journal helps harmonise the learning process and our learning experience.

No doubt this course will equip me with essential information, knowledge and skills to perform better in our International Students Recruitment activities as we seek to promote the UK as home to international students. .

  • Very interesting, informing, empowering and exciting, I really enjoyed the course and have passed the test.

  • I feel more positive about the use of big data analytics in the society because data is very important for decision making especially in the era of information technology. Every industry needs data analytics.

  • Big data analytics presents great opportunities for businesses, environment, health and medicine, etc. now and in the future especially in the era of information technology. However security and privacy is very important to prevent abuse, hacking - data theft and identity theft. Regulation is very important in this regard.

  • I only accept cookies if its very imperative that I need the Web content. In most cases I decline filling up information on websites that require my personal data.

  • The GDPR is very important for individual privacy, I think its supposed to be implemented globally rather than just the EU. The new data driven economy has come to stay, it only needs proper regulation and data security to maximise its benefits and potentials. Organisations need to be more responsible in their data management activities. My view.

  • Privacy is very important in the new data driven economy, the focus should be how to protect consumers from misuse and abuse because the new economy has come to stay.

  • I think the emphasis should be Effective Data Protection laws to deter offenders and strong cyber security systems and management to deter hackers.

  • No, human knowledge for interpretation and action is very essential and cannot be replaced by machines. Machines and algorithms are very essential for data analytics but interpretation is very crucial and requires human knowledge.

  • I will opt in for my health details to be stored in an EHR because it will help medical progress or 'potential to improve medicine' based on evidence from data, however there must be data protection laws in this regard to avoid misuse or abuse of such data.

  • There's a correlation between the ball tampering scandal and public sentiment resulting in increase in negative comments after the scandal.

  • I considered best scorer because football is about winning and the data analytics supports the evidence above.

  • Of course sports - based analytics is a good thing because it brings to live evidence based insights from data and removes the 'mythology of sports'

  • I will like to use citizen science to create data that could be analysed to address the issues of open grazing, oil spillage and erosion in the environment in Africa especially Nigeria where these issues are having devastating impact on lives and livelihoods.

  • EcoAdapt Project could face the challenges of inconsistent and incomplete data, heterogeneity of data.

  • Environmental solutions based on big data analytics can help monitor deforestation and revegetation. The push towards 'smart cities and smart farming' due to the effects of climate change.

  • Sixtus Okeke made a comment

Looking forward to learning how businesses can improve their services with insights from data and regulations in data, risks and challenges .

  • Thank you so much. I have registered interest for Big Data Analytics and Social Media(4030ICT)

  • Big data analytics is the course of the future, it affects all areas of human affairs. I'm quite keen to learn more, how it can be applied to solve problems in different industries.

  • The course is very informing, interesting and exciting. I would like to know more about data analytics and make a career in it. Thanks for this course.

  • Facebook : Demographic data, Behavioural data, Psychographic data, Intention data, location data, Product data,

  • The social media sites I use are mentioned above.

  • It could have been avoided if its not interpreted in different ways. Interpretation seeks to identify gaps which could lead to further research and data analysis for more improved and better services.

  • The table is helpful in gaining an understanding of the data whereas the info graphic helps in gaining a better view of the the data.

  • Data preprocessing - clean the data to avoid false results is the most time consuming and longest in a data analytics project.

  • I think on individual basis, access and quality data is difficult to obtain, except for research purposes with the permission and collaboration of target organisations who may have interest in such research outcomes to increase their profits or to provide better services.

  • I'm personally contributing to the growing large amounts of data by searching the Web, creation and distribution of content on the Web, using Social media networks, blog writing, emails, video watching, shopping on amazon and other ecommerce sites, using smart electronic devices - mobile phones, car, home, online banking, online learning, booking holidays,...

  • Big data refers to data sets that require modern software tools to capture, store, manage and analyse at record time to enable business leaders stay better informed and drive stronger business results.

  • Sixtus Okeke made a comment

Very informing and exciting, new discovery indeed .

  • I agree with the Lead instructor, Sebastian, big data can have both advantages and disadvantages, a coin must have two faces.

  • Hi everyone, my name is Sixtus Okeke. I live in London. Big data is the course of the millennium, so I'm keen to learn more to explore further opportunities in this regard.

  • Hi everyone, I'm keen to learn more about big data analytics.

  • Using the three methods-'description, analysis and evaluation stages' helps deep thinking and arriving at a fair response.

  • The models are great tools for critical thinking to establish the desired result

  • Yes, it was easy to identify critical thinking in the responses. Evidence based and the need for further research before more definite conclusions can be made.

  • Critical thinking is about evidence, reason and rationality, curiosity and questioning about the world.

  • Critical thinking is ''the objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgement". I think it's about application of reason and rationality to make a fair judgement.

  • I'm Sixtus Okeke, keen to learn something new.

  • Thank you so much for the course. Very 'useful and enjoyable', indeed.

  • Very inspiring and helpful, thank you so much.
