  • There are a lot of characters in her novels that loved to read! I recall of course Elizabeth Bennett,Fanny Price, Chatherine Morland, Marianne Dashwood, and that's just what I remember from now. In my opinion, Jane Austen, as she was a true reader, gave this feature to the characters too as she tried to show that reading is the easiest way to learn and...

  • I tried to read P&P in original, but it was too hard for me. I will definitely try to read it later, when my English skills will allow me.
I will try to read The Rosary and I'm certain that the fact that I already read it in Romanian will help me a lot. I recommend the book with all my heart. It was a pleasant surprise for me and I found it very similar to...

  • @IuliaKelemen Can I add you on Goodreads?

  • Haha, the trip to Lidl it is something exciting for me too during these times. I also work from home too, but the break from going to university is more than welcome. I rewatched Pride and Prejudice ( 2005 ) and Sense and Sensibility ( 1995) , wich are my favorites, and I am currently reading "Waves" by Virginia Woolf. I am also trying to read a book in...

  • I am very happy with this isolation. I am an introvert and I found this sad circumstance a great opportunity for me to read many books and watch tones of movies. Even tho I have a lot of work and homework to do, I still have enough time for me to enjoy these things that I love most. I enjoy the cold weather more than the sunny and warm days. I would love to...

  • I am not surprised by the amount of books that Jane Austen had "in her own hands", because I already knew that she was a very passionate reader. She always loved to read and for her, it was the best way to get educated.

  • In my opinion, Jane Austen wanted to point the fact that it doesn't matter that much if a woman was more/less educated than another. In P&P, none of the girls were brilliant and still managed to do well in life, marry rich and be socially accepted. Inteligence meant more than being schooled for her. And I agree with her, because not many have the possibility...

  • Using social media is necessary for any brand that exists, no matter the industry they belong to.
I absolutely love Starbucks for their social media skills. Their Facebook & Instagram are on point. There are many brands that I like seeing online but I can't think of any right now.

  • I do use social media, mostly Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp but I also use Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn,Youtube, Snapchat. I work as a PR/marketer/social media specialist and I managed to combine pleasure with work.

  • From my point of view, both Mary Wollstonecraft and Hannah More were trying to emphasize the fact that women are way too different from men.
From Mary I understand that men are " scared ", in a way, by the fact that women would become more intelligent, more courageous, and that they would no longer depend on them.
Hannah has made it clear that from a man's...

  • Thank you very much for this information, I didn’t knew! I always thought that during those times women were only learning French so that they could impress men and be considered highly educated. I know that they were relying on their family/husband income but I never thought that by learning another language they would earn their own money. Also, I never...

  • It is amazing indeed! I don't mind staying up all night if it's important to me, and I will try to read about everyone because it brings me closer to the characters. @IuliaKelemen

  • I managed to open the link and I only can tell that this is the most incredible thing ever. I can't wait to read them all. I just took a look on it right now, but tonight I will take my time and read more carefully. It is indeed very amazing to know more detailes about every character. It helps to see what you missed while reading the books. Thank you very...

  • @KimSimpson, Thank you very much! I already love this course and with every new lesson, I get to learn more about my beloved Jane. So many new informations. I am very satisfied as a bookworm and a sociologist, indeed.

  • I am, in fact, very interested to find more about the social aspects. JA's always had some amazing social situations included in her books. I loved how she pointed the fact that men could only talk to ladies only if they were introduced before. This specially was pointed in Northanger Abbey and I never knew that before. Such an amazing info! @IuliaKelemen

  • Unfortunately no.. just a bookworm that studies sociology! :) @IuliaKelemen

  • Unfortunately the link doesn't work for me :( @IuliaKelemen

  • I'm glad! I am from Timisoara, just like you! @IuliaKelemen

  • It is special indeed! I am absolutely fascinated by the portraits of Ms. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. Jane Austen surprised me very much with their confusing love story. When she first introduced Mr. Wickham I was a little confused by all the things he said. I was very happy to find that they weren't true so that I could go back to like Mr. Darcy. Besides Liz and...

  • Hi Iulia! I am, thank you so much! Hope you're doing well too! @IuliaKelemen

  • I feel like Jane Austen always wanted to prove the point that women need be on the same level as men. I recall that in Pride and Prejudice, she pointed the fact that women should NOT be only seen as creatures that can please and satisfy men. Indeed, women should be beautiful and talented, but they should be educated too. Knowledge was one of the main priority...

  • Unfortunately I didn't visit any of those location. Never been to England, but it is in my plan. I want to visit all of these places and they certainly are on my "before I die" list. It is a desire of my heart to see with my own eyes where she lived and to recreate her journey through these places.

  • Pride and Prejudice was my first novel ever read. I loved it from the first beginning and through the years I read it several times. Emma, Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey are, of course, close to my heart but I can't compare them to my all time favorite. Jane Austen really knew how to bring all the characters to life.

  • Such a wonderful and warm welcome! I think this will be the best course ever. I am forever in love with Pride and Prejudice, but I like very much all of her novels. Can't wait to find more about them!
