  • My opinion makes the same.

  • I think what was mentioned about children not realizing they speak multiple languages is so true... especially considering how much they mix the languages while their brains try to straighten out the two or three linguistical sets.

  • I agree and am not surprised since children spend so much of the early years passively learning.

  • Babies understand language about twice as fast as they speak. I agree!

Children can’t really learn a language if they are playing. I strongly disagree.

An adult’s brain is far more active than a three-year-old child’s brain. I strongly disagree.

Children learn best when they are interested in something. I strongly agree.

    Children pick up languages...

  • No one human is alike.

  • Between 2 and 5

  • In my experience, children learn from repeating, remembering, and physically doing/participating in something

  • I think children learn from doing (kinesthetic)

  • I am an English teacher and find young children to be more difficult than adults to teach even though they "pick up the language quicker"... in theory.

Hello! My name is Anna Bohren and I'm on this course as I teach young children in an ELL programme.

  • The project idea doesn't matter. It's worthless without proper planning and backing.

  • It's essential for a project manager to be intercultural competent with HRM skills

  • For me, the temporary endeavor comes with my job description of programming an English learning course annually which needs to be upgraded and changed - sometimes entirely. It's half project, half operation.

  • I have operations and projects within my administrative work in my university

Hello! I'm Anna from Morocco. I am currently studying my MBA and would like o to reinforce what I am studying.

  • Blended learning is using technology to give a "hands=on" teaching and learning experience

  • I enjoy what everyone had to say in the video. Blended learning and online learning, in general, is such a new field that in it's changing every day. It's true that that "mark as done" button is such a motivator to continue learning because you can actually track your success and are learning more than you realize.

  • Hello, everyone! I'm Anna and I live as an English teacher in Morocco

  • As my wifi connection is very slow, I'm unable to upload to the internet. However, I have presented it for my husband.

  • It's important to keep pace in a presentation as well as introducing oneself to the audience. If you already know the audience, still address them in some way by asking what they did last weekend or how they are (for example in a classroom)

  • Anna Bohren made a comment

I definitely sit down on top of a desk when I'm teaching. Perhaps it's fatigue but it's also a bad habit as I am presenting and should be standing tall

  • People who are using facial expressions pop out more to me than people who gesture on TV

  • It's so important to not memorize the entire presentation but instead become the presentation

  • Anna Bohren made a comment

It's very effective in calming the mind and body and making one feel fuller on energy easily

  • I love mindfulness and often practice it myself in difficult moments or when I have free time

  • Anna Bohren made a comment

It hasn't changed, but I do realize more that I need to respond, not react.

  • Ali should make another meeting with those involved, explain why, and work on herself

  • I haven't changed my mindset because I already tried to communicate like this which is great

  • I find it difficult to speak with a manager who asks for my opinion, then when I say it, interrupts me.

  • I absolutely agree with what Jennifer said.

  • I believe that my workplace can be rather toxic and sometimes communication needs to be changed or altered so people don't get offended or become sensitive towards you. In addition, there are many cultures at play within the company.

I haven't used the storyboard process before, but it seems great! I often use the structure of storywriting for my slides - beginning, body, end, references

  • Having too many words in a slide is distracting and takes away from the presenter and the storyline. If the people can see pictures and imagine the story in their heads without reading words, they can follow along better

  • I think a PowerPoint or visuals are very important when story telling, especially in a professional setting or with children

Once upon a time there was a virus that rampaged throughout the world killing off everyone but two people. However, these two people didn't know that the other was alive as they lived across the world from each other.

One person lived in rural, tribal sub-Saharan Africa while the other lived in the cold and snowy mountains of Mongolia. Both people went on...

  • It makes sense that their approaches were different as their audiences were also different.

  • That's a very good point!

  • It's great to realize how storytelling can tie into the workplace and can enhance my communication with collegues

  • I think in business one could use different platforms to present the story such as a video presentation, PowerPoint, or Keynote.

  • I don't have a favourite speech but absolutely having intention behind speaking is essential

  • The first two I've used in my reading and writing courses. The Sparkline structure is what they use in TEDTalks often which is what makes them so inspiring and something I try to use often in everyday conversations to persuade people, as well

  • Stories help people connect and learn from one another

  • A great speaker is someone who helps inspire you from within, reinvent your ideas, or make you question your id.

  • Hello! I'm Anna and I'm a uni teacher in Morocco

  • My view on communication hasn't really changed as I've studied it before. However, I do believe I have better identified my strengths and weaknesses.

  • She could also communicate to her pets or herself in the mirror being very self-aware of how she is practicing good communication.

I do feel better equipped to communicate with different people, audiences, and through different platforms.

  • Would you choose a formal or a more personable approach? - It would depend on how many tutors and my personal relationship with them. In general, I would say it's better to be formal as they are employees and it's the workplace.

How would you communicate this content differently for the clients/students? - The clients would have a casual formal style to it...

  • I really enjoyed the part of eye contact because I definitely am someone who darts their eyes when speaking even when I try to avoid it.

  • I use all five of these on a daily basis almost. However, I really don't like email much

  • I learned I am an assertive communicator which is great - especially in the business world. I love much of what dana had to say, as well.

  • I think it's impossible to be oneself completely at work because if everyone is 100% themselves, the work environment would be unhealthy and impossible to work with. Part of communication is learning how to communicate with those around you, and how they will receive your message. That is to say, how to get your message across, not just say the message and...

It's cool to see how the clouds part and the sun opens up when someone realizes who they are

  • I'm someone who definitely prefers one on one but am growing in my ability to communicate myself well with groups. I try to be aware of how and when I communicate myself, but as an emotional person living in another culture, it can be difficult to keep one's head on straight.

  • I try to be conscious but it's very difficult sometimes when intercultural communicating

  • Hello, I'm Anna and I'm a uni teacher. I work online now

  • Anna Bohren made a comment

I do feel better towards being a remote worker knowing that I was taking the right steps within this course

  • I love Google G Suite with a passion. It helps keep me and my team incredibly productive.

  • I would make sure we have a set hour or two a day where everyone is online. In addition, I would ensure we have collaborative spaces such as Slack and Google Office

  • I used post it notes and really enjoyed how it facilitated the process. I don't enjoy doing digital to do lists as much as physical.

  • As a project manager, using the Kahban system is something we are trained to do and I really enjoy it

  • Anna Bohren made a comment

Skype, Zoom, and WhatsApp are also effective

  • I'm good at SMART goals, but need to do better for work visibility

  • Why do you think remote working is a good idea for you? = It's what I'm currently doing and it is the future of work

What do you think might be a challenge for you about remote working? = work-life balanca

Rate how important the following are to you out of 10.
flexibility (being able to work flexible hours) = 8
free time (time to do the things you...

  • It looks realyl great!

  • The biggest thing is to maintain her going to her weekly yoga classes and getting away from the house and family taking her own time

  • What I've notived to far in my experience is I'm a hard worker and good at time management. I'm productive, ut I don't turn off from work and end up working 12 hour days easily without noticing

  • I think that the most difficult thing to raise with the boss would be salary and working hours.

  • I believe that remote working is exactly what Lillian needs all things considered.

  • Why are you interested in remote working? = I am interested in remote working because I'm doing it now due to COVID-19
What are your motivations to consider remote working? = Well, Right now I am loving it to much I plan to discuss with my boss the possibility of working more from home in the future
What particular challenge could remote working solve for...

  • Hello! My name is Anna and I'm American but I'm living in Morocco and currently working for a university which recently went 100% digital due to COVID-19

  • My answer hasn't changed. It is possible, depending on the conditions, but it is very difficult

  • Anna Bohren made a comment

I believe it depends on the employees free time activities, familiar commitments, and amount of expected working hours a week

  • i believe that these days it is something that should not only be encouraged but is necessary.

  • My views havent changed, but I do feel better informed overall.

  • Work culture is what causes me to lose my balance because everyone in my company is young and single and has no children or anything to do besides work. This causes me, a married woman with two dogs and many hobbies, to feel that if I am not working, I am wrong and will not progress in my company

  • Spillover theory best shows it for me because everything is connected

  • I believe that some jobs aren't made for flexible working. However, there are times in which flexibility needs to be accounted for in each job.

  • That is so great!

  • I think it's absolutely possible in any country or company. I feel this imbalance often in my job.
"If your personal life is falling apart, it's time for a promotion" - The Devil Wears Prada

  • It's an art that is different for everybody. There is a balance, but something that does mean cutting back on either the home or the work load.

  • I loved the videos and how professional the material and videos were

  • Thank you!

  • The best thing about this course was how it enveloped both the academics, academic practice, and also the digital and future together beautifully.

  • Social and inclusive: I ensure that my classes include everyone and are social between students and between teacher-student.

  • I don't work too much in teams across disciplines as we use Google to facilitate our education. However, I do work with other teachers and administrators

  • Teachers can facilitate the learning process or make it more confusing and difficult.

  • Google is a great example of service design. Within Google Classrooms computer and phone interfaces, they are user-friendly, clean, and accessible.

  • In my situation, part of my job is ensuring that students feel connected to me as the teacher, me as the admin, and to other teachers, students, and admin. Be that by way to feedback on homework, responding to emails within 24 working hours, or being available to speak to them via Google Hangouts

  • Having empathy is so critical when online learning because no one's situation is alike. Everyone has different wifi speeds, different reasons for learning and motivation, and different time availability to put towards the course.

  • My biggest tool are the other students to enable self-learning and productive communication. However, I am also now an avid fan of Google Classroom and Google Hangouts.

  • As one of the key responibles of this transformation, the goal was to take an intensive Foundation Year English programme which was contact-based and turn it online for the last 6 weeks of the programme. Of course the end goal remained the same - making sure the students had the level high enough to test into the UK school they wanted. However, the process and...

Innovation is the process of transformation

  • My key insight for the week was that everyone is online learning for different reasons. I knew this, of course, but never digested it nor put a name to the types of digital or life-long learners.
Professionally, as an online educator myself, I will make sure to add as many of the 3 C's to my classroom as possible/

  • Capacity to know more is more critical than what is currently known. For me, this means that in the digital age we need to know how to handle the future now so when the future arrives, we aren't lost.

  • I do believe that I follow the three C's rather well when it comes to being online and in an education community. I have learned how important communication is via the internet as it's hard to hear someones tones of voice or intonation through text.

  • Personally, I really love "Pocket" because it's like a newspaper on the go, loadable without wifi, and can teach you just about anything.

  • Everything is connected with everything. If a pebble falls into a pond, the ripples move the water, changing the environment around it, possibly listing up soil as it hits the bottom of the pond. The wind moves a small aspect of dirt by barely touching it. The worth will always connect everything to everything and in order to learn, we need to connect.

  • I am an English teacher who moved and administered and entire intensive programme to online over the past few weeks which included testing, classes, lectures, and communication with the students and teachers alike. It has been such a great growth opportunity to see how the world is changing and how, when we do some research into it, it's a beautiful thing.
