  • I have to agree with you. The 2018 film was unfortunately a disappointment. Mary has had a very eventful life but I have never seen her as a warrior Queen.

  • I agree with this

  • Could you please give the title of the book. MacCulloch has written many books about the Tudors. I am very much interested in the different frontispieces of the Great Bible. Thank you

  • I would also be interested to find out more about this. It doesn't seem to add up!

  • @GILLIANMcIver Could you please clarify if Henry VIII had any other bastard children that were boys? If yes, why was Henry Fitzroy the only boy to be acknowledged by the King?

  • The legibility and familiarity of type.

  • I researched York in Yorkshire. There were 218 booksellers, 164 bookbinders, 340 printers, 56 publishers and 167 stationers. No woodcutters or typographers. I was surprised to see that there were 34 librarians/owners of a circulating library.

  • The invention of movable type (making the production of books quicker), the perception of the book (a symbol of wealth) and the Reformation (the demand for Bibles printed in the vernacular).

  • @JennyLaycock The internet is used by a wide audience with varying levels of abilities and skills. I have 2 young children that use the internet to research and learn more about school projects. I wouldn't say they can understand critical thinking. I think we shouldn't underestimate a readers capability of learning using the internet.

  • Hi, I'm Nicola and I work at the Cathedral Library in York, UK. I'm interested in the history of the Bible and its readers. I'm interested in most Bibles produced during this period but I am especially interested in the Great Bible and King James Bible.
