Yes this is a simple framework yet very complex in its meaning. I now feel I have such a better understanding to apply to my day to day living and work. Thankyou!

  • I have selected the Cultural agenda challenge with the Consumption and Waste issue. “How might we involve and support local communities to dispose of textile waste?”.
My idea is to generate a local sewing hub for people to attend up-cycling workshops on how to re-use their textile waste. It would need to be accessible and fun, with the participation of a...

  • I think often designers don’t have the time to really think supply chain as they are constantly running to get collections designed and approved for each new season. I would love though as an industry we change this.

Agree with the Uk folk mentioning it is not possible to download. Real shame... this could really benefit socially many roles wanting to gain more information and do what we can with a more sustainable mindset.

  • For sure investigation into the product supply chain and life cycle of the product would need to be researched and evaluated. In order to take action, collaboration with each part counterpart of the product would need to be itemised and reviewed with new set of criteria. It would take further awareness and re-education of best practices and A willingness for a...

  • Tough question!! After reading and seeing into this topic my views are broadened and now questioning deeper. I understand there are downsides to leather however there is still not enough known of the other materials being used and they also don’t yet have a luxury quality that the consumer are ready to invest into. Until the right faux leather innovation is...

Really interesting first week and happy to be thinking and reflecting on this course.

  • I’ve selected a few different ones:
Prada stay true to their DNA. I felt they predominantly have culture/social and ecological agendas.

I like this for its clear statements and one defining line: “Care, Collaborate, Create” https://www.kering.com/en/sustainability/our-strategy/collaborate/

  • I chose Culture Agenda, its for me about the human decision and breaking habits of bad consumption decision. I also believe though its about the teaching, understanding and collaborating altogether for a better future of our environment. I constantly have a tug and war with myself as I work in the fashion industry but I love what I do and I wouldn’t change...

  • I’ve been pondering my answer now for a couple of days and I chosen finally to pursue the culture agenda. I live in the countryside in Uk, but work in a big urban city and often find it overwhelming to see the bustle of consumption happening. We need education and awareness of consumption to start to address how we spend and what the real consequences are of...

  • Sustainability is key for the survival of a business. I believe it enriches their core values of what they stand for. Todays culture, we are far more inquisitive and strive to learn and be more educated within our micro and macro environments. I think sustainability isn’t just important to designers but all persons involved in creations. We all have an...

  • I value the freedom to have and love my family, to have a healthy mind and a curiosity for living. It represents one of the values of well-being for our environment and ourselves. To Embrace. Learn. Nurture.

  • Really great coverage on the course, even more excited to get stuck into this and start addressing problems into opportunities.
Good luck everyone, I believe we are in for a change in the way we go about our lives and our thought processes.
