I'm Brazilian from Porto Alegre and I'm passionate about England and Autism studies too. Gratitude to Future Learn and all participating institutions

  • Gratitude for the teaching that is essential to support people who are alone in a foreign country and wish to collaborate with this new society in return for the benefit of the knowledge gained.

  • Personally, I have depression and my son has autism. We would have to look for a support network and have adequate support from the beginning. This course presents itself with a light theme, but throughout it shows its great importance for participants.

  • This information is very important and must be disseminated by institutions and shared among students so that the benefit is generally known.

  • Seeking help is essential to overcome the difficulties that will certainly arise over time. Facing these difficulties alone will only bring physical and/or psychological illnesses to the person.

  • All the teaching so far has helped to understand the fundamental role of emotions and their control so that any objective can be achieved, especially when we are in a foreign country and far from family and old friends.

  • I am grateful for having the ability to learn and have the health to pursue my goals. I'm grateful that the difficulties are smaller than my victories. I'm grateful for my family and my life!

  • The diversity of emotions and ideas is part of Being Human. Good mental health and good physical health are essential for a healthy life and for achieving our (good) goals in a balanced way. Understanding negative emotions and fighting so that positive emotions are above those that depress us.

  • The way to help is to place more emphasis on the person's successes and capabilities and lessen the importance of mistakes or difficulties.

  • My self-critical thoughts happen during periods of frustration, depression and anxiety, because most of the time I am a very positive and determined person.

  • My favorite emotions are feeling challenged to experience new situations, feeling satisfied with my activities and being happy with family and friends. As I am depressed, anxiety, frustration, sadness and depression are emotions that I need and want to avoid.

  • S.A.U.D.A.D.E - Word that only exists in the Portuguese language and has the meaning of the phrase "missing someone or something"

  • Excellent exercise, but my boat has balanced moments, most of the time thank God, but obviously there are days when it faces storms (atypical days) where it will turn more to one side than the other.

  • Despite the intense focus on studies, I always try to have time for my son and to go to the gym. Physical exercise improves my mind and helps me physically.

  • I'm very focused on my studies and I have to discipline myself to have more leisure time so I don't get overwhelmed, especially mentally.

  • I am easily adaptable to new cultures, but obviously I will miss the support of old family and friends. I believe that moments of solitude are not something negative, but rather a way of relaxing from the tension that adaptation requires. To adapt quickly, you just need to know how to respect other people's limits and always be cordial and truthful.

  • Since my son was born, 11 years old, my sleep has been irregular. Today I sleep little and wake up a lot in the early hours of the morning, but I got used to it. I only feel bad throughout the day if tiredness accumulates throughout the week. I know it's not ideal and that I need to change this routine a lot, which isn't healthy at all.

  • My diet was worse than it is today, but I've improved a lot. In the past, I ate more sweets, more fats and fried foods. Today I still eat chocolate and drink soda, but much less than before. I avoid fried foods and fats. I prefer healthier dishes. I don't think I'll find food in the United Kingdom strange, as I adapt easily to this point and I'm naturally...

  • I'm 51 years old, 52 years old this year on July 31st, but I've always been a person who didn't like physical exercise. If they talked about the gym, I was already tired before they finished the word. But at the age of 49 I started bodybuilding and today I get physically and mentally ill if I don't exercise at least twice a week. Physical activity began with...

  • I am fully aware of my abilities and difficulties. I filled in the wheel and it clarified that I need to work on my weaknesses to achieve my goals.

  • My measurement is by the level of my anxiety and depression. If none of these things happen, I know I'm in a balanced situation. My escape from bad times is to stay focused on studies, at the gym, walking with my son and listening to music.

  • Teaching in each country is different, but I love the quality of teaching in the United Kingdom and even though Brazil has a grade of 100 as excellence, I know that the global recognition of a diploma from the United Kingdom would be worth a grade of 1000 in Brazil. The quality of education in the United Kingdom is fantastic due to its history and...

  • Regardless of the student's experience in their country, there will always be support at study locations in the main large countries for foreign students. A support team with skills to understand diversity (cultural, religious and social) among students must be attentive 24 hours a day. This way the adaptation will always be better!

  • In Brazil, mental health is an increasingly important topic, as current times make people more stressed. The difficulty in treating family and professional problems compounded by social problems: violence, drug use among other social ills... has demonstrated that our societies are increasingly sick. A foreign student in any country must understand the culture...

  • All the tips are excellent. I truly believe that getting involved in many local activities to learn the country's culture is essential. Also keeping personal objects that provide security is important, especially in the most difficult times.

  • I believe that a good part of bad manners may be common to several countries, including Brazil, such as turning one's back to someone, but Latin cultures have less reserved attitudes and can seem invasive. Believe me, these are demonstrations of friendship. In Brazil there is also sarcasm and irony although the preference is for more direct dialogues in good...

  • In Brazil, due to the cultural diversity of the regions, there is always a clash of cultures, imagine going to live in another country. I believe the secret is patience and the willingness to learn. Observation, always ask about the correct procedures and avoid frustration in case of errors. The United Kingdom is used to foreign students and I believe that...

  • I am looking for a course in English History or autism. My son is 10 years old and autistic and will go with me. The idea of location is London, Leicester or Liverpool (the latter being special for Raphael, my son, as he and I are LFC supporters)

  • Looks like an excellent team!

  • My son and I are passionate about the United Kingdom and I really want to understand the way of life in the United Kingdom, as it is essential to respect the local culture when traveling to a country other than our own. The culture of Brazil is very different from the United Kingdom and this course will be very important for us.

  • Thank you for the knowledge I acquired and for your generosity in sharing your knowledge with us.
I would be pleased to take other courses with you and have such important certificates on my CV.
I'm a big fan of Future Learn, which allowed me to learn in several courses even though I was thousands of km away from the educational institutions that were...

  • Culture is much more than fun! Culture is the representation of a people or a time! Cultural diplomacy is a political form of use by a people! I am in favor of cultural diplomacy when it aims to expand knowledge about a people and thus keep their culture alive. I want you to get to know Brazilian culture from the 5 regions of Brazil. We are beyond...

  • I believe that for the mission to achieve its objective there must be respect for the local cultures of the countries where they operate and that there will inevitably be even a small fusion of both cultures: the European and the local culture of the country, which will change both.

  • I understand cultural diversity within a single country. There are 5 regions here and each region has its main culture, the one it identifies, but it also has countless others that are equally valued. Ultimately, anywhere in the world a country is culturally diverse and this diversity is essential and must always be accompanied by respect.

  • I didn't know about this festival, but now I'll definitely research it. In Brazilian culture, we have Brazilian Day, which is organized by Brazilians who live outside their country of origin. They don't show our entire culture, but the intention is valid. But I invite you to get to know the culture of the South, North and Northeast of local people in Brazil.

  • Centuries ago, European expansion was through the conquest of territories and this is how my country, Brazil, emerged. Since the colonization of mainly European families in the 18th century, to Brazil, I can already see cultural expansion in my country and today it is part of Brazilian culture. But we can receive more from European culture and exchange it...

  • I especially loved the support for young artists and if they haven't achieved all their goals yet, continue improving the project and expand by participating in international events.

  • The current Brazilian Government of 2023 is trying to reach an agreement with the European Union. I believe it has an economic base, but it could expand to cultural and educational areas. This agreement faces difficulties on the part of Mercosur partners and also Europeans such as France. Personally, I am in favor of this agreement so that we can get closer...

  • The three institutions mentioned operate brilliantly in Brazil.

  • I consider it important for politicians to value the culture of their people, regardless of their intention.

  • Yes definitely. In Brazil we have a great influence of European culture from different countries due to colonization. These families brought their forced labor, but they helped build my country as an economic but also cultural firm. Where I live, Rio Grande do Sul, a state in the very south of Brazil, feels like a little piece of Europe.

  • I'm excited and happy with the course. I have a lot of European culture in Brazil.

  • I see the State as a supporter of local culture and is fighting alone to expand to the world. At least in Brazil, I don't see a sufficiently competent political effort to use culture as an international force. The economy remains the main base. I see the arduous solitary struggle of our artists for international recognition.

  • Institutionalized forms will remain but will be increasingly dependent on technological forms. I live in Porto Alegre in Brazil and I have English friends in Sudbury in England. Without technology this would be unfeasible. The news of the new world must be a complement to the old forms of relationships and not substitutes, as it is these old forms that...

  • I believe that decades ago the artistic expression of expression was plastic art, but today the global reach is in cinematographic art and this does not know any borders.

  • In terms of students, we have two great exponents of the franchise in Brazil, the United States and England. My only son, who is 10 years old, is autistic and wants to study in England.

  • Porto Alegre, the city I live in in the south of Brazil, has cooperation with Madrid, Spain on city management. Exchange experience to apply the successful models here.

  • Brazil has recovered its relationship with other nations that have Portuguese as their language and this brings different cultures closer together and helps with cultural and economic cooperation.

  • I analyze it differently. It seems that when we leave our country or our ancestors left, there is a desire to maintain the culture of origin as a need to keep their identity alive. This happens with pivots who come to Brazil and with Brazilians who leave the country. Cultural nationalism is a pride and becomes the ambassador of another people in the current...

  • I believe that the artistic issue has to do with media power and with the desire of Governments to expand their influence, probably already economic to cultural as well. I love English culture, but for decades we have been "culturally colonized" by the United States. Today, Brazilian culture is valued more.

  • Brazil also exported a lot of soap operas in the 70s and 80s. Although I personally don't understand it as a national culture, we also exported Carnival. In the South where I live, the culture is completely different, very similar to Europe. I don't think we have been as successful as Turkey.

  • Cultural cooperation, even though it is also a form of attraction, is different from public diplomacy, where cultural diplomacy is incorporated, as it is not a political instrument planned solely with the intention of domination or subjugation, even temporarily.

  • Both options: it is possible to go together without conflict, promoting culture and language as well as promoting mutual understanding with the country where you are located. I also agree with the
Institutions such as the German Goethe Institute and the British Council (which are references in Brazil) on the political independence of governments, but always...

  • I'm really unaware of Brazil's participation via government bodies, but there are popular celebrations in countries like the United States and England where the Brazilian community is large. Yes, both formal and popular participation are excellent for showing the culture of a people.

  • Narrow borders, help facilitate different agreements through knowledge about culture and habits and reduce conflicts.

  • Cultural power can be greater than economic or military power.

  • Until 2 decades ago, Brazil did not value its culture so much that it was better known abroad. There was cultural import mainly from the United States. Today, I can happily say that there is appreciation and defense of our own culture. I believe the current term is VALUATION

  • My country is Brazil and I am multicultural. Multiculturalism is an innate learning process for all Brazilians.

  • I love movies, reading and writing and this is the second course I've taken with you. I wish to build in my mind a library with diverse knowledge and my gratitude for your incredible contribution.

I hope I have answered the request in carrying out the task.

  • I loved knowing the denominations of the subgenres, although in a very quick analysis they still remain in the general genre, but having this knowledge is important for me who love movies.

  • I like fiction/fantasy because the themes can be similar, but the approaches give a new look to the stories.

  • GENRE: FANTASY

(E: How can the story be resolved?)

    THE LEGACY OF SYRIUS (#6)

(...) This part of the group was placed on a ship aimlessly through space with provisions to sustain itself for a long time. It may seem cruel, but so the evil that would still exist there, if there was imprisonment or full pardon, was expelled before it infected other...

  • GENRE: FANTASY

(E: How can the story be resolved?)

    THE LEGACY OF SYRIUS (#5)

(...) Although with many dangers and with extreme caution, Khlaus and the group manage to reach the runes, but they must return to the surface quickly, as neither the dormancy of the volcano nor the protection of the special suits lasts long. In fact, small reactions from the...

  • GENRE: FANTASY

    (C: What could be stolen?)

    THE LEGACY OF SYRIUS (#4)

(...) This plan is put into action and Khlaus himself along with some government guards go to the rescue of the sacred runes with the blessing of Grandmaster Hyron. Meanwhile, Hyron makes the difficult decision to arrest, after thousands of years without this happening in Syrius,...

  • GENRE: FANTASY

    (C: What could be stolen?)

    THE LEGACY OF SYRIUS (#3)

(...) The plan is put into action and the theft is successful causing great confusion in the management and people of Syrius. Fearing that all harmony and good conquests will come to an end, Hyron puts himself responsible for the lack of security and for not having identified the...

  • GENRE: FANTASY

    THE LEGACY OF SYRIUS (#2)

    (C: What could be stolen?)
(...) Knowing the importance of maintaining Hyron's ascendancy over Syrius and its people, Thainn organizes her group to steal the Lamurian runes and hide them in the most dangerous place on the planet: the Hassur volcano, where not even the grand master is dare to enter. For that, he...

  • GENRE: FANTASY

    THE LEGACY OF SYRIUS (#1)

(What kind of characters are A and B?)
"In the milky way there is a small planet, called Syrius, which has not been mapped by any stellar federation and which has a people who live in community and in peace, but it was not always like that. Centuries ago these people lived in war and it was with the arrival of...

  • Real realism would frighten people who are used to pretending they are not part of a difficult social reality and the film industry is appreciated for taking us to different worlds. Even movie realism has a touch of poetry, it's a realism created to keep our sanity and we need that escape for sure.

  • I love versatile actors and actresses who are not afraid to dare, but the vast majority are accommodated in the characters that gave them fame and recognition.

  • You may not identify the genre of the film by the title or opening scenes, but the characters will make this identification to the viewer.
    Comedy - a clumsy character
Crime - victim, criminal, police officer or detective
Horror - something supernatural and harmless innocent people around
Science fiction - people using technology that does not yet exist or...

  • Continuing in my favorite genre
    Science fiction
    Who doesn't know Blade Runner
It unites the best of a dystopian future, with technology, fantasy and love.
I also see a bit of Frankenstein in this story. The creators despise their machines (created in their likeness) for wanting to be treated as human, because after all that was the reason for their...

  • 2001: A Space Odyssey
I love science fiction, from Star Trek, through Land of the Giants to the present time.
The film is about the exploration of space beyond Earth and the new social relationships where the human and machine interact and question who is the dominant of the relationship.
The recognition of the genre is in its narrative and in letting the...

  • One of my favorite subjects: fiction movies!

  • One of my favorite subjects: fiction movies!

  • One of the secrets of the trilher in my opinion is the accelerated pace of the narrative, even in quieter scenes, so that the viewer is always unprepared for the next action and preferably that this action is something unexpected.

  • Who doesn't like to have fun? I may not be a big fan of these films, but I do watch and value their contribution to the adults who have been following these stories for decades and the conquest of young appreciators, as they are timeless stories.

  • These comic book-based franchises are not, in my opinion, genres, but part of a larger genre that is action maybe mixed with animation. Between DC and Marvel, I personally prefer DC, because I feel that the stories have more depth in terms of emotion, the characters are more human with duality in thoughts and actions, in short, they are more real. Marvel often...

  • What would you expect from them?
Superheroes: action, heroes and antiheroes, special powers
Thriller: an engaging story that causes a lot of scares or crimes and with a surprising ending.

What kind of stories can they tell?
Superheroes: stories of threats to humanity in which the heroes have to defend even with their own lives
    Thriller: ghost stories,...

  • Defining a genre is simply defining identification criteria, but sometimes the predefined genres take on a life of their own, when they are mixed, and decide to define themselves, forcing us to create a new nomenclature. It's the creator and creation syndrome!

  • Yes, there are genres that fall in love with any form of expression and others that depend on movies to come to life.
In my opinion, all forms of art are interconnected and only have their own characteristics that identify each form, but all are influenced by the events of the others. Trends, even subliminally, encompass all forms of art.

  • Would you agree with generic groupings?
The issue of grouping some films in a generic way is that they present subgenres within a main genre and the choice of which prevails is up to the spectator. But I prefer defined genres, even with sub-genre nuances.

For example, is “foreign language films” a genre?
Definitely not! I consider it a lack of respect for...

  • If the proposal is to choose a different one from those mentioned above, I choose "Documentary". Documentary has the proposal to narrate a fact, a part of the social history, the life or part of a certain person. It can be based on eyewitness accounts, media reposts, or other sources. A documentary may appear to the viewer to be a translation of reality, but...

  • I'm eclectic and it depends on my interest at the moment, the marketing success, but obviously I have favorite genres that are, on the big screen, fiction/fantasy and thriller/horror films mainly based on successful books. In TV series I like the police, horror, fiction, fantasy, suspense and historical genres (mainly 18th century in Europe). I also like...

  • Gender for me, with the view only of a spectator, is the theme of the film. The story itself is the development of the chosen genre or genres, as some films may present more than one cinematographic genre.

  • I love cinema and I watch movies from the silent film era, through all the decades to the present time. I'm an open cinephile and I love any genre as long as the movie or series has good quality!

  • Fantastic course, although it introduced me to a new subject, as I live in Brazil, but I loved the knowledge base acquired to start understanding the legal part of the UK. Thank you, you are wonderful!

  • I believe that it is the right of the defendant to seek an appeal of the conviction or sentence, but I am concerned that the bases for the final decision are only the lawyers and not the part of the witnesses.
Would the sentence you imposed on Joe stand up to scrutiny by the Court of Appeal?
I fear that the sentence could be reduced to minimum compliance and...

  • Would you, in principle, be in favor of using restorative justice to deal with the situation between Derek Simpson and Joe?
No, because there was a deliberate planning of the aggression and it was not due to a momentary situation (as we say in Brazil "hotheaded").
    There was intent and malice.

  • @CharlieTye Restorative justice is only for very light crimes, as aggression, assault, murder or attempted murder, crimes against children and other medium to heinous crimes, there is no possibility of applying this type of justice.

  • @CharlieTye Prison in a situation of aggression, lack of conditions still exist and do not really rehabilitate anyone. The problem is not in prison as a penalty, but in the conditions in which the convict is subjected during his sentence.

  • @CharlieTye 1) In this case, the law must take into account the defendant's history and apply a penalty that makes him think about how he reacts when he is challenged, because he needs rabies treatment too.

    2) The penalty must be fair enough to try to rehabilitate this young man, as he needs to have a more lenient behavior.

    3) The fact that you have...

  • I don't have data on the success of rehabilitation programs and I'm skeptical because I don't have data on the reduction of crimes, at least in Brazil, but I'm still aware of the need for these rehabilitation programs in a fair and egalitarian way (for everyone regardless of social class, gender , religion, etc...), because without it there wouldn't be a...

  • @CharlieTye I think I'm a mix of objectivist and subjectivist.
    1) Alan and Amy are caught speeding and given a £1,000 fine. Alan is a single father with universal credit. Amy is a multimillionaire.
The fine has an established value and must be the same for everyone. In that case Alan can appeal the amount (if allowed in the UK) or Amy willingly assist in...

  • I think everything should have been important for the judge's decision: the laws, the defendant's acceptance of guilt, the circumstances and the appeal of the victim's family.
In that case, I would not condemn him to prison, but to serving an alternative sentence. It would not exonerate him, but it would give him a lesser penalty, as it seems unlikely that...

  • Receive my gratitude for the teachings and congratulations on the excellent course.

  • Has the lockdown changed your view of football's role in society? Nothing has changed, because I'm still passionate about football.
Are you optimistic for the game on your own? Here the first post pandemic game was like a release.
Do things need to change? Perhaps clubs should expand social participation in communities, in social actions.

  • The growth of football still finds room to grow and thus seek not only the high profit that football provides to great clubs and players, but mainly providing sport to people without access and to the most talented (men or women) a career.

  • Leicester City, like all clubs, will always have ups and downs in their trajectory, but I believe that the positive facts will outnumber the negatives, as managers and coaching staff now know the path to follow to achieve their goals!

  • Supporting a team is in good times and bad! Criticism and applause go together! And really at least Leicester City has one fan in the south of Brazil: ME!

  • It's a good thing that women's participation in clubs, being players or cheerleaders, has benefited the sport, as it represents its evolution and breaking of paradigms and prejudices.
