  • I remember when I saw manga was meant to be read backwards, I haven't seen other different styles

  • I haven't read so much comics before. I only remember reading Asterix. I think it would be only by practice and at first by someone telling me the normal reading order.

  • In Peru you can find the "tablas de sarhua" and "retablos", one is painted and the other sculpted inside a box creating different floors, and they both show different celebrations or daily live.

  • Maybe begin with something they know very well and that will sound good, like a 5 or 6 step scale. Then work with that changing some rythms of the notes to change the mood of the music. If possible add some percussion to make it more entertaining maybe? I think doing this will definitely sound good so they can get optimistic and willing to create more.

  • great! Her sense of tempo and ensemble is so good!

  • Love this! :
The instrument is their chosen way of communicating their musicianship.

  • I think the use of of imagination to create images or situations is very helpful when searching for musicality in a piece.

  • I think both are important, but the even when we are committed to accomplish what the composer wants we have to be ourselves.

I loved the postmodern picture books content! I've never heard of those and will be happy to look for some!
I know now that they can be way more complex and stimulating for a children's mind.
Do postmodern picture books for adults exist?

  • The use of digital devices and psychomotricity

  • I think they mostly encourage freedom and creativity. They show us that anything is possible and we need to think out of the box.
They will help develop questioning, to see beyond the obvious, and the need of deeper thinking.

  • I've heard about breaking the fourth wall in movies or theatre, never on books!

  • A picturebook of maps (atlas) ? It encourages the ability to visually understand concepts that are only in ones imagination.
A colouring book? It encourages the creativity and freedom of changing ones reality.
A book of dinosaur stickers? It makes one get a physical and direct interaction with the book, this way I think it creates more engagement.
    A...

  • I think this one encourages the ability of synthesizing the visual and textual information to create a new concept.
In the books I chose both image and text tell the same definitions I think, actually I would have to give them a look with different eyes now to notice if there is more to see!

  • I think they encourage the ability to relate different concepts, to define some not known, and they are a guide for the imagination helping the creation of characters.

  • Interesting approach to the musical achievement, normally what we are used to is to measure it by technical difficulty only.

  • Liked very much the strategy on making the student play only one note and follow the reading. It makes them get involved from the very beginning!

  • I agree, creating a base before playing a new music is completely necessary so the student can understand and play the music, and not get frustrated in the process.

  • I've never been in a situation like that before, but do remember one time the parent of my students ( two sisters) told me that maybe they would be a little emotional because their uncle just passed away a couple days before. Luckily the girls were doing fine, even tough I tried to make the lesson as entertained and light as possible so they didn't have...

  • Have never thought on image and text as two voices, it's a very interesting way to see it! What example of picture book in which word and image speak together but different things can I find? I'm curious about that kind of narration.

  • I don't remember being taught to understand the pictures, there were showed as a complement only. I think that usually what happens is that the importance of text and pictures increase or decrease in an opposite way as you get older.

  • I'm more a visual person

  • It's a book in which the text complements with the art. The pictures guide your imagination to create what the writer wants to express.

  • I found this material very useful! I completely agree that we have to be aware of the situation our students are in, and that it's necessary to be creative and to adapt to their needs.

  • When I teach I try to make in a certain way according to each student, as I have different levels, ages and also reasons why they are studying music. This last thing is very important because some will be aiming for high level or professional playing, while others learn music just for fun as a hobby. I always encourage them by letting them know what they are...

  • This is so interesting! Recently I also started using the music creation with a student who is 8 years old and is struggling a bit with music reading. This definitely has caught her attention and is helping her to understand better everything. You project sounds awesome! All the best!!

  • I like very much dr. Seuss for it's rhyme writing and strange creatures, Peter Rabbit and other Beatrix Potter books because of its warm and vintage drawings, and La enfermedad del conejo y otras décimas, which is a book I bought in Chile. It tells funny stories in décima writing which is very melodic. I think mostly I like more the books or by it's melodic...

Hi! I'm a flutist from Peru but I also enjoy very much drawing and painting cartoon animals. I've always loved illustrations in children's books, tv or movies so I got interested in the course as soon as I saw it. Thank you!

  • Hi all! My name is Sini, I'm 32 years old and I am a flutist from Perú. I've been teaching since more or less 10 years ago in individual lessons, since 5 in a children's orchestra project, and since last year at a school. I've done Suzuki teacher courses several years ago and I'm interested in learning other forms of teaching.
