  • Thank you.

  • Thank you sir.

  • Thank you so much for the incredible work you guys are doing to build the capacity of young people around the world. Thank you for making the learning materials so easy to understand - the timings flexible.
    May we succeed all.

  • My measure for success would be how much my action change the status que of what I am trying address.

  • I will start by planning how to gather observational data about my target groups.

  • This is really helpful.

  • Because they make you question yourself and your readiness.

  • It makes all your goals clear, and creating consensus among all stakeholders. I believe these are important.
On the other hand, I believe this should be added:
    - It make you believe more in the achievability of your plan.

  • My vision is to create a politically stable society by encouraging civic participation and promoting inclusive governance.
I envision the major concerns of the citizenry to be the driving factor in shaping the policies of the state because the citizen will be informed and have more awareness of their responsibilities. .
The groups to be impacted will be the...

  • The idea of capitalizing on the opportunities around you to push your policy idea.

  • By creating awareness on why the SDGs matter.

  • Wow! I really love this part of the week because it resonates with my personal experience the most. Example, there was a time I tried to ask a colleague to explain to me why he thinks a minister in Nigeria should resign due to a scandal about his past. The first thing the person I was asking thought was I was trying to defend the minister because I share an...

  • Stakeholders who are not engaged but do have influence because in case this category of people are the politicians. I need to have them on-board and show them that they also have a lot to gain from my work.

  • Because I am one of the stakeholders in what I am advocating for, and I am in a position to do something as a trained journalist and activist.

  • When crisis hits and you have already developed a sort of reputation in what you do.

  • Policy tactic number 4: Understand the pathways.

  • Policy will not be determined solely on evidence. There are critical parts to it like people's value and incentives.

  • The most valuable approach in my case is the observational data because I need to know the behaviours of people living in different conditions (i.e., in regard to political stability) without alteration.
On the other hand, I believe that when deciding on the approach to take, it is better for me to use experimental data.

  • Both quantitative and qualitative evidences are important for my policy idea because each would provide important insights on the policy development.

  • I now see that evidence is used only according the context it is being applied.

  • That is just the way it is. May we learn from these examples.

  • What surprised me the most are the following:
Case study 1: How The New Deal made the government an institution directly experienced in Americas' daily lives and directly concerned with their welfare.
Case study 2: The case of Cane Toad in Australia demonstrated the importance of evidence-based policymaking because had they based their decision to import the...

  • I feel I have the capacity to to influence my policy development in Step 1,2 and 3.
But for step 4 and 5, I am not sure.

  • I think that is where evidence or data comes into the picture; it is hard to argue with the fact.

  • I think the better way to do it is to remain open minded at the beginning of your policy development; and only after you have become certain of the limitations of your argument and passion and have adjusted them, should you pursue the policy rigorously.

  • My hypothesis is that once the citizens are given a voice where it matters, and are educated about their constitutional rights, ultimately there will be political stability.
To test this hypothesis, I will conduct surveys in several states in Nigeria, take some examples of countries that have similar conditions as Nigeria - in terms of political stability....

  • In trying to convince policymaker, one should combine the data with the human story, so that those that are not convince by data may be touched by the human story. This is smart because it considers the two possibilities likely to happen.

  • It is kindness and compassion that are catalyst for change in the end.

  • My passion is to work towards creating a political stability in my country; my policy vision is to advocate for inclusive governance (where the concerns of the majority are taken to account) through journalism.
My progress against the four steps to purpose:
    1. What I can sustain: I still struggle to find ways to finance and market my work - so people with...

  • The similarities that I see in all they have stated is that they are all either working towards realizing their vision, or trying to raise awareness about it.

  • By creating awareness through my work as a journalist.

  • Youth Issues, Youth Opportunities, Poverty and Inequality and Corruption because as a Nigerian youth, these are the most urgent issues prostrating the young generation.

  • I find the second definition most interesting: "Policy is a framework of ideas, actions, rules and principles. Sometimes this can be expressed in the short term or a ‘catch phrase’. Policies drive the thoughts and intents of all the participants to work together for a shared goal."

  • The easier the better. Good job and respect.

  • My purpose is to contribute to the well being of my people. Example of someone with a clear purpose for me would be Martin Luther King Jr.

  • I think what prevents me from realizing my dream is lack of mentorship from people with experience in similar field.

  • Based on my stated passion, I believe I'm confident about step 3 (what the world needs) because in my community it is understood that without political stability, not much can be done to fix our problems; step 1 (what we can do) for I know and employ the necessary skills needed to succeed in my advocacy; and step 4 (what we want to do) that is I am passionate...

  • My passion is to advocate for political stability .
