I'm a High school science teacher/mentor/trainer and a Ms graduate in Applied Medical Entomology. My research focusses on insecticide resistance in malaria vectors and the molecular mechanisms.

Location Nairobi, Kenya

Activity

  • A detailed and easy to read information on sources of selection pressure.

  • Very well explained. How can we use gene editing to navigate insecticide resistance in malaria vectors? I think as scientists there is a lot that deserves our exploit in this field.

  • Ignoring community engagement in the control of malaria vectors can be likened to a vehicle with very good and efficient engine but no tyres. Definitely, it will not move!

  • The NGIRS is a savior to retard evolution of insecticide resistance especially the use of the dual mosquito nets.

  • Collaboration is vital in checking the development of insecticide resistance.

  • Community can be involved in eradication of some of the mosquito breeding sites, clearing bush and use of plants traditionally used to repel mosquitoes.

  • Biology of malaria, insecticide resistance, vector control strategies

  • Quite informative

  • Through egg-laying behavior of mosquitoes, i think more tools can be developed. This will require olfactory based studies with the main goal to control malaria.

  • Good read!

  • Any development of a new active ingredient for vector control requires clear knowledge on its target and mode of action.
    Very informative

  • Use of insecticide mixtures and PBO

  • I learnt the key malaria control strategies

  • Great presentation.

  • Great read!
Consistency is important in the journey towards malaria elimination.

  • The history of malaria is a great foundation to help researchers and scientists to step in vector control confidently

  • Malaria is still a burden in Kenya. However, the possibility of elimination is high but requires concerted efforts of the stakeholders in the Ministry of Health, research institutes and the public. Another factor of paramount importance is the political will of the government and willingness to fund malaria control projects and eradicate misuse of funds meant...

  • A malaria free world is very possible!

  • Strongly agree we have tools to make our planet malaria free but we still need more, especially, we can exploit the many aspects of malaria behavior to add more tools in the field.

  • Some the reasons why malaria is declining could be: Evolution of insecticide resistance, Improper use of malaria vector control tools, Lack of community knowledge on malaria control, funding amongst others
