I'm excited to research crowdfunding. In fact, I've already done a lot of research on this type of business funding and looking forward to sharing my findings and learning more.

The team's decision worked for them. Alternative sources and selling shares gave them the funds they needed and allowed them to have a successful exit a short time later.

I recommend banks and other sources, including crowdfunding. Here are a few great sources of business funding:

My advice is to stay away from the friends and family option unless you know for sure you'll be able to pay back every penny you borrow--or unless it's a gift. Just make sure you BOTH understand it's a gift. Best options for me would be either bank loans or other sources.

Aside from borrowing from family and friends, I'd say those are some good options. Here are a few great sources of business funding:

Bank loans are good if you have credit or collateral. It also helps if you have a definite way to pay back the loan. Ideally, you should have a plan to use the loan to make a profit. Business angels and crowd funding are good if you have a great business idea but no credit (or poor credit) or collateral.

I would not recommend family or friends as a funding option, unless you have a definite plan to pay them back--even if it's equity funding. Though they may not express it, they're either expecting a return ON their investment or a return OF their investment. It's better to fund your venture yourself--founder funding. This way, you avoid hard feelings.
