  • @InaaraSyeda The 'Show Values As' menu is visible in a couple of other places if you can't see it in the right click menu. The right click menu is the easiest, but here are the others...
    1. Make sure you have the value field selected, then on The PivotTable Analyze tab of the ribbon, in the group 'Active Field', there's a button to launch the Field Settings....

  • You're most welcome!

  • It's difficult to follow a streaming video when your internet connection isn't the best, but I'm very glad to see that you managed quite well without the videos. Thanks for joining us. Best of luck!

  • Aww. Thank you

  • There are some great tools in Excel that will allow you to restrict what can be entered in cells - which will help if your data capture is in Excel. The easiest ones to work with are the Data Validation tools, which you can find on the Data tab of the ribbon. Good Luck!!

  • Always consider your audience when creating a report, and enable/disable options accordingly.

  • Overwhelming! There's an option for everything. The most important thing to remember is where to turn options on or off. If, in the future, you come across a reason to use an option you haven't used before, you'll know exactly where to look.

  • Each activity is designed to build on the knowledge attained in previous activities, so it is a good thing that you know where to go for a refresher.

  • Good job finding a work around! Different versions of Excel may not have all of the features, so it's important to know the different ways to achieve the same result.

  • You should be able to cut and paste your slicer between worksheets to move it.

  • Excel does change a little in each update. If you create a Pivot Chart and the table isn't automatically created, you get to decide if you really need the Pivot Table as well. Often you'll only want the Pivot Chart anyways, but if you do need the table and it's not there - simply create the Pivot table first, then from the Pivot Table Analyze tab, select...

  • @ThomasHamill Unfortunately Excel for Mac is missing a lot of the functionality that is present in Excel for PC.

  • @JohnSloman Good pick up John! The Public Projects total should be $524,867,297. Is that what you got?

  • Good job finding a work around. Yes, adding columns into the data source will make additional fields available in the pivot table, however this is a little clunkier. If minimizing the number of calculations is a concern (to preserve speed), creating a calculated field is definitely the better way, or if your pivot table is summarizing a database, you won't be...

  • Thanks John! Yes, GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a tax applied in Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Maldives, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea & Singapore.

  • Well done finding a work around. There are many different ways to achieve everything in Excel. If one way doesn't work in your version - try another way.

  • Absolutely. There are so many Excel features that aren't available in the web version, only in the full version. But when you do have access to the full version of Excel, you'll already know what's possible with Pivot Tables, and knowing what's possible is half way to achieving it.

  • Hi Bruce, The text above the video contains the link to download the activity file. Best of luck!

  • Love it!

  • I do find re-selecting the range less error prone, but if you know the new address for the whole range without selecting it first - you can type it in instead. Just be careful not to use arrow keys within the 'Table/Range' selection box, as this will change your range.

  • Wonderful. You've got this

  • Excellent! Keep it up :)

  • Well done!

  • Or... Right click any cell in the grand total column and choose 'Sort' then 'Sort Largest to Smallest'.

  • The great thing about key tips (method 4) is that you don't have to remember them. When you press the ALT key, key tips are displayed in the ribbon (JT next to the Analyze tab), then when one is pressed, the next one is displayed (i.e. G next to Field Settings after pressing JT). If you are a keyboard shortcut user and you use a lot of Pivot Tables, you'll...
