  • Congratulations. Best of luck with your degree.

  • Hi. I retired, too. Now, I am "unretiring"

  • Thank you for the kind welcome. I have spent more than enough time in the hospital, so it's fine to be looking from the outside in.

  • @GemmaStarkey Thank you

  • I love film. It takes me away, when little else will.
Last year, I lost my beautiful daughter and my husband.
thank you for allowing me to take this course.

  • @RogérioRodrigues Thank you for your kind note. I am trying

  • Antisemitism is a well-known term in my neighborhood, especially among those who seem to take pride in its practice. I have lost interest in why people hate Jews. They just do, and inviting them to every holiday will not change their minds.

  • Be careful of people you meet online who ask for information about family. Some are okay, but others resort to aggressive methods to pursue their questionable goals.

  • As a teacher, one of my favorite assignment was asking students to find the derivation of foods in their favorite meals. There were surprising moments and we would all get pretty hungry by lunchtime.

  • Dear classmates
I have lost my beautiful daughter and my husband. Logging in has been difficult. I will try

  • @LindaMay Thank you. I have faith in Biden.

  • And passports were stamped "J"

  • I watched in horror as terrorists overtook our Capitol 2 weeks ago. They destroyed property. They brought guns. Six people have died as a result of this action.

The terrorists wore shirts that stated "Six million not enough".

I doubt if most of them had ever met a Jew.

25,000 troops were called in so our new president could be sworn in yesterday. The...

  • Hi Diete...Nice definition. I don't think I have every met the requirements.

  • Definition of Health. International Journal of Health Services, 6/14/18.
    https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0020731418782653?journalCode=joha
I just can't agree with any definition, in my old age. For me, health is getting through each day, each hour, each minute, each second.

  • Perhaps. Was she listed at the member of a household in any census documents? Best wishes, Nancy

  • I want to create a document that is mainly a primary source of information about me and my beautiful daughter, Esther Rose. Essie died on March 1. She was the last of our line. There will be no more grandchildren through my parents.

I am not getting any younger. My concern is that the history of my family will be lost.

  • Hi, I'm Nancy, too, in California. So nice to meet you.

  • Hello...so nice to meet everyone. I am older than dirt, coming out of retirement. Just got my TESOL certificate.

  • @LouH Hello. Thank you for your kind response. I lost my husband and my beautiful daughter last year. It seemed as if I would die. Each day has been a struggle, but I continue on. My golden retriever and kitties are here for me.

  • I'm not sure. It can be. Some people just seem to be instinctively hateful. I have a few politicians in mind.

  • Hi Andrew....Yes, the past week revealed a hatred of which I was unaware. We must stay strong.

  • Hate is learned, for the most part. Yet, I have met some people with lovely parents who are hateful to the extreme. We are all unique individuals. We react differently to our experiences. Sometimes, we don't see hate in others until it is too late. (Yes, I have an ex-husband in that category).

  • Xenophon, according to the Britannica Encyclopedia (online 2020), hung out with Socrates quite a bit. Those conversations might have been health related. I would like to read actual works by Xenophon to form a more educated opinion.

  • I want to do this but it is very emotional. I lost my beautiful daughter on March 1. My husband died last year. Will try my best.

  • @ClaudetteDelphis Hi Claudette. My best friend lives in Quebec. We have been on the phone all day, watching the sad situation at the capitol

  • I guess it depends on which ancients you ask. I am always amazed that anyone from my line survived....poor, Jewish family in Eastern Europe. Yet, I'm here.

  • It would be nice to chat with Socrates. I have always been fascinated by his thoughts.

  • This was an excellent short course. It's nice to know I am not too old to learn.

  • If you live alone, like me, don't just eat casually, without thinking.

  • Nancy Egelko made a comment

I have very low body temperature. Blankets and keeping warm are very important.

  • Yes, I have treated people with severe bleed. Pressure, raising the limb and treating for shock are always on my mind.

  • Practice so you can do this calmly, without upsetting victim.

  • I am trying to have my Aunt Leiba's picture published in Yad Vashem.

  • You can do it, Milena

  • Good evening. Thank you for allowing me to join this course. My great Aunt Leiba was killed at Treblinka Concentration Camp when she was pregnant. I find that antisemitism continues to flourish. Recently, I lost my beautiful daughter. I am the last of my line.

  • Must be very careful because I take blood thinners.

  • In my apartment, I live with my puppy and two kitties. Must be very careful about falls, as I have limited eyesight. Must use oven mitts...burns are a hazard.

  • Hi Terry...I am a big fan of Hippocrates. It is frustrating that his oath is not always taken as an important medical guide.

  • The word contusion has Latin derivations. I know this term because I watch too many murder mysteries on the ID channel.

  • Good evening. I have some documents about my grandparents, including the ship my grandpa came on, to New York. and their census documents here. I am very frustrated about my sweet dad. He died in 1960, from illnesses he got during WWII. His records are now classified.

  • The lists, showing the order in which to assess a situation, bring order to chaos. They are very important.

  • Still struggling to get through this without guilt.

  • Hello. Thank you for allowing me to join this group. I am pretty much the last of my line. My husband and my beautiful daughter died this year. I don't believe my nephews plan to have children. Right now, I have assorted pictures and papers from my parents, grandparents and great grandparents. My family came from Eastern Europe. I want to get something on...

  • Me too

  • Good morning. I really want to study something I enjoy, so here I am.

    Best wishes from California

  • Y tambien, yo soy de los estados unidos

  • Thank you, David

  • I believe people can die of a broken heart. It may not seem logical, but it happens.

  • De donde es Joe Biden?

  • I could not complete this for my daughter or my husband. They both died. I tried my best. A lot of guilt comes with this.

  • I loved walking group. Hope they are offered again soon.

  • I just can't do this. Have spent many days in hospital, this year and last. Would you like a picture of my toe amputation instead?

  • @MarianaFarias Observation is key. I don't see that much in many modern authors. They just find a formula and stick to it.

  • Jane Austen gives me humor when there is none left in my life

  • Jane Austen gives me a place to disappear. I need that, lately.

  • I did not know about this position. I have taken first aid classes before, but this was not mentioned. Thank you

  • Me, too, Angela

  • Well, I am old. From my family, I would like respect and some humor. Those are hard to come by.

  • Muy bien. Y tu?

  • It is so nice to meet you.

  • Good morning. I am excited about joining this course. I look forward to meeting students and professors.

  • @GillianDow What a lovely way to start the new year.

  • @EmmaHills Such a joy to meet you.

  • Good morning....I am very excited about joining this course. Thanks for making this possible.

  • Me...not so healthy, but trying

  • Good evening. I am a retired college professor....happy to join the course.

  • Can you cover subject with a light blanket, for shock?

  • This was an interesting lecture but somewhat generic. I cannot sleep very long. I have always had sleep problems. Since my daughter died in March, I stay up most of the night, resting on the couch. That is the best I can do.

  • Perhaps play needs no definition. We know it when we see it. We know it when we do it.

  • Oh, I do hear children say that they want to play....and in their minds, they picture wonderful, silly moments that capture happiness.

  • Me, too

  • Play is the opposite of homework. It is not work at all. Once we abandon thoughts of grades and judgment, play emerges as a wonderful, unique zone that is for us, our playmates, and perhaps, an environment that evokes the need for fun. Play makes me laugh.

  • One of the best ways to help memory is studying a new language. This seems to wake up the brain.

  • Memory loss can be due to more than age. While I am now 67, two years ago I had many surgeries and I spent time in critical care.

When I got home, my cognition was almost gone. I didn't really know where I was. However, I am a retired college professor and I remember how to learn. On my cellphone, I found so many quizzes, about vocabulary, geography,...

  • This is so important. I did the best I could with my own daughter but I was not successful. I miss her very much. Drugs have caused so much misery in our world.

  • Hi Michael. That is such a good question. I think social media gets in the way of our goals. For example, posting a note about feeling in Facebook is a very limiting way to address how we actually feel. Often, we receive feedback, such as hearts or LOL....these are very generic.

  • Hi Rana....perhaps. Yet, I don't know of anyone who has.

  • I like Maslow. Yet, I am not sure w all have limitless room for growth

  • I have always found it difficult to relate to Maslow's ideas about self actualization. For some, they are simply not reachable. I will never get to a truly positive feeling about self esteem. Yet, I don't feel this should limit my ability to move forward.

  • Hi Ina. I know how the loss of your brother affected you so profoundly. Playing alone seems to come as a part of that loss. I still do. Thank you for sharing your story.

  • @JulieDuff ...I still enjoy dollhouses...kind of love the miniature world.

  • Hi Erica. I played alone quite a bit, too. As an adult, I find that I still enjoy activities by myself.

  • I lived in New York until I was four....then we moved to California. I grew up in the 1950s and 1960s. Dolls were an important part of my play, as was reading. My Dad bought me a record player when I was very young...it seemed like magic.
My father died when I was six. After then, I seemed to play alone quite a bit. I did have one friend, Susan, with whom I...

  • When children and adults feel they can have some control over emergency situations, they are less stressed. Children usually welcome ideas that will help to keep them and their families safe. Dialing for help, and being able to give a location over the phone is such an important aspect of first aid.

  • A mi tambien.

  • Nancy Egelko made a comment

Hola. Me llamo Nancy. Yo soy de Neuva York.

  • I taught Instructional Design, which seems to parallel Human Centered Design. Our goal was to identify what was currently known about a subject and what needed to be known. This is the "gap" and we strove to fill the gap. I like the idea of focus groups, used in Instructional Design and HCD. When leading these groups, ask a pertinent question and let subjects...

  • I like your positive approach.

  • Embrace learning. It is not a chore, it is a privilege.

  • So true. Trial groups are key to determining flaws in new programs.

  • Written remarks are very subjective. There is a lack of expression and nuance in what we write. The Samaritan situation is comparable to passing a law that punishes people for what they might do. Digital communication is difficult to evaluate. Many people, including myself, assume that writing about our feelings is a private matter.

  • Wonderful list. Make sure to have the kind of aspirin that dissolves in the mouth, in case of suspected heart problems.

  • The mom whose baby had a febrile seizure was just terrific. Her story is a good reminder about fevers. When I was growing up, many years ago, my relatives treated fevers with lots of blankets to keep us warm. I learned that the key is cooling a baby down. I have used tepid baths to do this. Thank you for sharing these stories.

  • Hi Eleni...I learned at a young age that IQ scores are so limiting. At age 6, I had to skip some grades because of IQ tests. Yet, have so many deficits. My social skills are really lacking. Multiple Intelligence, I believe, allow us to work on skills and investigate our own unique persona. I look forward to hearing more about your work.

  • Hi Margaret. It's so nice to meet you. Taking my Golden Retriever, Sasha, for a walk really helps me work through the pain.

  • Hello. It's nice to meet you. I work on my memory a lot. Every day, I take vocabulary quizzes online. Studying a foreign language helps, too.

  • Hello. I am a retired teacher, and I must return to work. At age 67, this is a challenge. So far, I have obtained some part-time employment, and my interviews have gone well. Emotional and physical issues are a part of my life.

Recently, I lost my beautiful daughter and my husband. It has been hard to stay motivated. Diabetes is a definite hurdle. I had...
