  • This is probably the wrong place to post this, but here goes anyway. I joined the course (although I've done it before) because I wanted to try out the Android Studio as opposed to the previous emulator - unfortunately, I've been totally overwhelmed by work and other commitments, so will have to withdraw this time. I'm looking forward to trying again though,...

  • Rejoining to refresh my memory and cover bits I found difficult last time..

  • I tried to join CAS whilst studying part 1, but they wouldn't accept / verify? me unless I named 'my' school. As I divide my time between private tuition and supply teaching, rarely staying for more than a day or two at any one site, it seems inappropriate to me to nominate a school, even if I've been there a few times. I note that we exchanged a few...

  • Hi I'm a supply teacher. and tutor. Having done part one and some other computer related courses, I'm interested in completing part 2 and getting a good overview of the new curriculum.

  • It's been an interesting course, which has resulted in my neglecting my other courses! Sadly, with work commitments, I've found nowhere near enough time to have studied it as thoroughly as I would have liked, but I hope during the Easter holiday, to revisit some of the materials and reflect further upon some of the developments of different facets of the...

  • Sorry - re; my earlier post - that should have read Window - Preferences - Android- DDMS

  • Having reinstalled afresh for this course, I've been trying to get the debugger to work for a few days (Yes - I'm still in week 2!). I've spent ages trying to get it to run as per the course guidance - I was having to bring up the debugger perspective manually and the variables just wouldn't show - in fact it just wouldn't do anything useful! Then I...

  • No E Mail received. Looking out for the hangout in other weeks and marking this complete.

  • I thought I'd be clever and repeat the course thoroughly by wiping out all my previous installations on pc and laptop. This turned into a very time consuming exercise as I couldn't wipe out the last traces of the old Android SDK. In the end it turned out to a case of 'renaming' some 'long' file names and after some further struggles with the emulator it's...

  • Hi all, Thought I'd have another go at this, having done the first run in the Autumn. I'm glad I'm doing so, as I've struggled with getting the emulator to bend to my will, (reinstalling anew) although I thought that I'd conquered it before! Hopefully, this course will be a chance to refresh and reinforce further.

  • Hi, I'm a tutor and supply teacher with some personal interest in computing as well as various previous studies in programming, including Reading University's recent Mooc in Android programming. I thought this might be useful in maintaining professional development and I'm curious anyway...

  • I've sometimes found it difficult to keep up timewise and probably need to go back over the materials again to truly understand it all, so should have plenty to keep me occupied for the next few weeks.....! I think the discussions are interesting to read too, although it would be easier if they were perhaps subdivided more into detailed topics. It would also...

  • I'm a teacher and private tutor. I previously studied Basic and Pascal with the OU - but before object oriented languages came in! I'm informally studying web programming in HTML, CSS, PHP, MYSQL etc. I think this could be a useful way to develop my programming knowledge a bit further and pick up some up to date ideas.
