  • I recommend that you look out for the Learn Jazz Piano course on FL when it launches. It is taught by Ray d'Inverno, who wrote one of the standard text books on relativity theory, and is also a fantastic pianist!

  • Hello folks, sorry about the user interface issue. We have deployed an updated version of codecircle which should not have that problem.

  • Dear Giles,

Thanks for the suggestion. I will add this to the final week, then add to the other weeks for the next run of the course.

  • Hello folks,

I hear your pain. I have added a final article to the drum machine session, providing an example of the code, with the extra code added to make it closer to standards compliance.

If you hit the zip link in the settings part of the codecircle page, you can download a zip file, containing files that can then be uploaded to your own web...

Thanks for the feedback. I have tried to include diagrams to support some of the synthesis layouts, and to explain how the synthesis works as I go along. I agree that I could go into more depth about sound synthesis and theory. In reponse, I am going to add a discussion step where people can have a go at defining the terms themselves, since we...

The course is aimed at beginners, so I am trying to get them up and running with the minimal amount of code. I agree that eventually, having standards compliant HTML documents would be a good target for the learners as they develop their web coding skills, but that is not my main target here. I will add some...

  • Hello Ant,

Thanks for the questions about CodeCircle. I'll answer them here:

Where is my code being stored?

    - the code is stored in a database cluster running on servers hosted by Linode https://www.linode.com/

What is different to CodeCircle when compared with other programming environments?

    - we developed codecircle to help with our teaching...

  • Hi Phil, thanks for the heads up. Somebody flagged the document so it became hidden from public view. I have fixed that now.

  • Hello folks, I have just updated the T and C's, and made the purple fonts white for the sign up form. Regarding fonts in the code editor, you can boost the size of the fonts with the set of widgets at the top of the editor pane. (magnifying glass). It is not possible to change the colours right now.
