  • It is really amazing when she is focusing on learning English as a foreign language not English as English.. English now because the tongue of the world.

  • the most significant issue is the classroom size and lack of students motivation because of the misuse of social media and technologies.
there are so many issues related with successful education and to become perfect, it should be met all in previous list.

  • I almost agree with all mentioned issues.

  • Education should undergo a constant change in order to meet the 21st learners needs.

  • Dia daobh. Asaad is ainm dom.

  • Every language needs to be practiced daily in order to master it well. this lesson is good but I dont observe any pronunciations rules. Each single sound has a different pronunciation in each context so that we could need to do a lot to master it.

  • Pointing, emblem and iconic gestures that I usually come across and it is easy to differentiate between them.

  • My family members and friends usually use emblem and pointing when they want something to do and I always use beat gesture because there is great integration between my speech and the gesture that I do.

  • I think robots will be assistant teachers in the labs of teaching and learning.

  • Language or lingua franca is importantly related with the power and economics. Any nation is becoming dominant in power and economics, its language is likely to be dominant in thirty years time so we could not predict here according to the world political and economic fluctuations.

  • Power, imperialism and money.

  • I am looking forward to having great experience in applied linguistics and TESOL.

  • Can I join PhD course in Applied Linguistics?

  • These are really fascinating tips and links to be kept follow up.

  • It would be quite interesting to share our ideas to do researches with you, so I am doing research about Influence of English on Immigrant Native Speakers of Arabic:
    A Ka:rmik Linguistic Motivation of Super-Stratum Effect.

  • thank you so much.

  • corpora is quite interesting and useful tool to analyze the language.

  • Corpus is a useful tool to analyze the authentic language use so it is fit to the advanced students.

  • It is a steady and notable decline of the use of Must

  • Yes, the results match my prediction.

  • When I was a student, teachers taught us that must and have to are both used for obligation and something necessary that is to be done. They also told us that must is much stronger and formal in meaning than have to. They said that have to is more used in spoken language. Got to is the least formal and refers to the same meaning but in different contexts with...

  • ' must' has become less common and I think it will be no longer used because there is an suitable alternative of giving the meaning of obligation.

  • Social media are powerful tools in changing the world even language characteristics. so therefore It is the best way to collect that data.

  • I already used corpus linguistics in my MA research so I collected the data about the collocations.

  • I missed it. But I can say that I am interested in program offered by Leicester University in applied linguistics with TESOL.

  • interesting

  • thank you I am refreshing my information.

  • it would be easier for learners when they keep practicing them in the context so the more we practice them, the more we comprehend well.

  • I had a conversation with a friend of mine who suffered from server head ache.
me: You should see a doctor, i.e make a suggestion to him.

my friend: The doctor told me " you must drink a lot of water and have a rest....

  • the use of modality is very challenging and very essential in language contexts.

  • Modals area type of verb and subjunctive is a mood of verb, so they need not overlap. When using modals, you conjugate the modal as the main verb and have an accompanying infinitive at the end of the clause.

  • Thanks to Agneta and Nick, who are lead educators. I am prepared to learn from your rich experience.

  • This week's topics are very fascinating and interesting. I hadnt read about this so thoroughly in a long time. the thing that surprised me is the accent reduction and addition and different accents of English.

  • These are really important key points should be considered by teachers and learners of L2

  • @DrKieranMatthewO'Driscoll thank you Dr. it is really fascinating comment

  • Our aim in teaching and learning pronunciation is to speak sound language because there is no standardization in English.
In pronunciation, individual sounds as important as stress and intonation.
Yes, individual"s first language plays important role in determining their L2 pronunciation.
Not only native of English can teach pronunciation, but also there...

  • 1. I will speak in standard accent and I use pausing and stress and emphasis and all features to make my speech as clear as possible.
    2. I will encourage them to use his poor accent or I will try to use his poor accent to communicate with him.
    3. feel happy and I will spell and pronounce it to him correctly.
    4. I feel impressed when the foreigner speak near...

  • Very interesting analysis of Trump's speech!

  • It is easy to notice the changes.

  • We have skilled politicians, liars, are able deliver a message persuasively in both formal and intimate contexts in order to project the appropriate public image and that persuasive language is only at the time of election. This is available in everywhere.

  • I always do the same, when meeting people from different cultural backgrounds and rural or urban areas, we accidentally change the way we speak or vocal style. the reasons behind that to show our culture and education and the social class that we have also for a prestige

  • It is normal that there is gender distinctions in Voice Quality whether low pitched or high pitched because of the physiological changes in both men and women.

  • Vocal styling plays great role of attracting the listeners and it could tempt them to buy the products.

  • I agree with the feedback, the stress is very important feature to comprehend the words and syllables of words and also make the discourse is more understandable.

  • English is the most language that is subjected to change particularly the pronunciation area because a lot of communities of different linguistic and cultural backgrounds adopted and used it in different contexts. It has been observed that the pronunciation of English in the middle east different from Europe and so on. It should be standard accent to be...

  • I dont agree with people who try to neutralise or reduce their accents, the most important thing for the pronunciation is to be as clear as possible in order to convey the massage.

  • I prefer an GA because it is well popular and it is easy to be understood.

  • I dont think that behind each accent there is social significance, there may have been for other reasons such as regional, power etc. as far as I know there is an Indian accent is really strange.

  • Poor=sewer
    suit-coot
    issue-sh
    controversy-second syl
    harrass- second

  • Absolutely, my accent changes to american accent unintentionally when I communicate with Americans. but sometimes I prefer to use British accent in classrooms because I feel it is most easiest to understand for learners.

  • For me, speaker 2 is the most easiest to understand, speaker 5 is the most fluent and speaker 2 can make impression on me.

  • an amazing comment, can I have any contact with you?

  • Pronunciation is the most important in language teaching and learning so it is very much facilitated the learning of second language.

  • the way that the teacher behave and his good personality play important role to increase engagement and reduce the anxiety

  • when I have been at Wright State University at USA, I have observed zero-anxiety classrooms language learning. skilled teachers are really friends to their learners so they create interactive environment , encourage oral presentation and set up small group in the class and the teacher tries to ask tricky questions to encourage the students speak. they hear...

  • This is not a positive learning environment and the strategy that the teacher applied will increase the anxiety level so the teacher should be friendly enough to learn, correct and ask something. high anxiety entails low learning and vice verse.

  • I really felt anxiety when I was being interviewed for getting a job. when the anxiety in high level is really backward step and make you forget everything so It is normal to have anxiety in each learning process at the beginning but there should be a suitable environment and skilled teachers to reduce the anxiety.

  • interesting comment

  • All of us have felt anxiety when we at first speak in front of students or people but how the anxiety should be zero by keep practicing the language and preparing lessons well.

  • I haven't used the CEFR grid before. it seems very interesting for self and other assessment.

  • We were not really encouraged to be autonomous learner in the primary and high school but at the university seems to be different. we have had some control in our learning and been responsible learner. as being said this depends on the educators themselves to give their students confidence to do tasks.

  • It is a really fascinating comment, I totally agree with you.

  • fascinating

  • The teachers should be a facilitator and a monitor otherwise, the right objectives and outcomes of learning process are hardly achieved because the learning of language is hugely different from another aspect of learning, so the L learner should live with the language itself.

  • yes, I agree with you. when I have been at united states, the teachers there are just facilitator and monitor.

  • The courses that I have experienced in the primary and highly school were teacher-centered but at university seem to be mixture and I think this hugely depends on the education and culture of the teachers themselves and materials as well. Some uneducated teachers tried to experience full control on the classrooms.

  • I totally agree with you.

  • you are absolutely right.

  • collaborative group work makes the learner quite confident and vocal to speak language. Personally, I encourage the students to work collaboratively in order to be their anxiety zero.

  • Collaborative group work is quite applicable method for learning and it can be applied and worked well with intermediate or upper students to classify and identify the verb groups and something like that.

  • when the learners are fully engaged with language learning, he will be more analytic about language understanding.

  • communicative approach and comprehensible input are significant for language learning and use.

  • For me, I have applied this way of learning, it is very fruitful and interesting for the learners to identify the verb groups and how they can be used.
