  • I would like to know how I can integrate AI and ML processes into my design practice as well as poetry practice.

  • I think Barrat did do most of the "work" but did he do most of the "art" is debatable. Is the artist the one who makes the image or the one who build canvases and paintbrushes?

  • I spent some time with Amazon AI. It was actually quite nice.

  • Usually the connotations associated with AI are that of fear. But, I am also increasingly finding a collaborative mindset towards AI as well.

  • One of the projects that I have been impressed with recently in terms of AI is StoryFile where stories of the last generation of holocaust survivors are documented using film, AI and voice recognition. Other than that, I am also generally concerned about AI in home devices.

  • I think this is a very debatable argument. While the length of comments might overpower that of the main content in some cases, it is not necessarily true everywhere.

This can depend on two factors -
    1. The nature of the source content
    2. What the end user is seeking

If the nature of a piece of content is one that coaxes feedback and conversation,...

  • MY DEFINITION OF GOOD DIGITAL STORYTELLING

    - Good Digital Storytelling is a way of telling a story that utilises digital technology as a medium for creating and delivering a story, fiction or non-fiction.

Although, this is almost synonymous with user/audience interaction in today’s scenario, I think, the interactive aspect should not be a measure of...

  • What seems common in their journeys of starting out is that either they 'always knew' that they were going to be writers - because that's something they had done all their life. Or they happened to stumble upon it in one way or the other.

The line between Fact and Fiction is seamless and it's hard to say where the transitions happened.

    I think I belong...

  • I realize that the line between Fiction and Fact is blurred and it's extremely hard to distinguish them in the written form, especially.

The real stories that we tell - the facts, they are experiences of our own distorted realities. The same fact can be a different story for each person. At this point, I remember the movie - 'Vantage Point' which, sort of...

  • Every passage suggests a story, at least the beginning of one.

The common element that I encountered - was that a lot of us consciously mentioned the words 'fact' or 'remember' or similar connotations to either emphasize or de-emphasize the facts/fiction. I found that quite interesting. To my eye, this distinguished the factual and fictitious elements.

  • For the 1st One - I am guessing the Fiction part is that 'She was a stubborn dog'?

For the 2nd One - The 'Tobacco Pipe' part seems like it may have been a fact.

    Is that right?

  • 3 FACTS / 1 FICTION

I was up until 4 o’clock last night. My head was exploding with ideas for my new business. My brain couldn't contain them all. I wanted to quickly get up and rush to my whiteboard and make sense of it all. But, it was so cold outside that I shivered in my blanket. Even then, I pushed my lazy self and finally made it to a notebook and a...

  • I think sound makes a character real. Sound can make or break a character. It is a crucial part of the experience of a story. A film of any kind seems incomplete without sound in our modern world.

  • I really like this course. It's opening up and changing my perception and understanding of Transmedia a lot. To be honest, I was not very sure in the beginning about this course, because it is in a different language. It was only my interest in Transmedia Storytelling that attracted me. But, language is no barrier at all. I read the transcripts as well, and...

  • I am really really having fun in this course!!! It is opening my mind up like nothing else. Beautiful! Thank you.

  • I think McLuhan would be thrilled to have his predictions come true if he was alive today. The way we interact with our media today is majorly emotional. And the democracy provided by the internet has become a medium in itself, even to discharge these emotions. The tactility of our interaction has also increased tremendously with touch capabilities in these...

  • Oh.. That helps :) Thank you. Even, I am not very clear about what the animation team does. Maybe they finish off the end product? As in things like video-editing and stuff?

Props are the property that is used for a scene. For example, all the objects that you use for a particular scene. Both in case of live-action as well as animation. Like, if you had a...

  • It seems like the animation production process is a lot more complicated than a film production process. The Design team plays a crucial role in the animated film compared to a live-action. Even the storyboarding is more imporant than it would be for a non-animated film.

    Similarities -
    1. Story is important
    2. The process of filming and editing is fairly...

  • It was fun watching the Disney video really. I never even imagined how complicated the traditional process really was. I always thought -Boy, did they need to draw a lot! It must have been that much fun too. I guess I had taken all the movement in these animated films for granted. The best part was the three-dimensional movement of Mickey part in the video....

  • Yes.. that scene is lovely and so emotional! Oh, that'd be wonderful. I'd always wanted to have a pen pal. :) Do you have a twitter or facebook so that I can share my email/address with you?

  • Thank you so much. :) The encouragement helps a lot!

  • Exactly, it's a beautiful story. The unusual friendship is what I liked most about the movie too. I've never had pen pals though and always wondered what it would be like to have one.

  • I keep a learning blog for this course and all the things - good, bad, useful or interesting feelings of mine - you will find there. It is ——> http://naiklearns.tumblr.com/tagged/flanimationSur

    DEVICES USED -
    - Juxtaposition of 2D and 3D elements
    - Paper Models
    - Rigs and Plastic Backings
    - Miniature 3D sets
    - Rig Removal Techniques
(I've written about the above in my comments in the previous section too)

I don’t know a lot of animation terms so I couldn’t name the style really. All I know is, I really loved it. I have yet to go through the...

  • I loved the animation style of Miss Todd, especially, the suspension of 2D characters in a 3D environment. I have always liked animations that juxtapose these two visual styles. I think this brings a certain uniqueness to the story. Considering live action, the difference between an animated movie and a live action would be that of a photograph and a painting....

There are two things that surprised me I think -
    1. The Scale of the Studios
    2. The specializations of the Model makers

According to me, the main considerations when planning an animation film would be -
    1. Have the script and storyboard laid out very clearly, right at the beginning as there isn't much scope for improvisation in the field; even that...

  • I have all the things on Getting Started. I don't really know where I stand on this one. It's hard to say. I have worked on illustration softwares as well as Sketchup Make 3D modelling. So, I haven't decided anything yet. Will choose as it comes and as necessary.

  • Animation is a way of telling stories in their most fundamental visual expression. I have always like animations that were fairly simplistic in their looks with very little detail. Animated characters and styles in which the objects are sprung into life by giving them only those details that make that Life happen. I feel that it gives a dream-like...

  • I am from India and I realized that a lot of these seemingly popular animations weren't broadcast here. My exposure to animation has been limited to Classic Disney and the more recent Pixar films. However, there was this one series of stories by Mondo TV that I loved as a child and still do.

  • I've definitely gotten a lot of insight into the underpinnings of how a story works.

  • Key Themes -

    Being a teenager/youth; embracing your heritage; insecurity; hint of a past with Yemi; subtle racial discriminations; laws and police;

  • Theme - Underestimation of unconventional methods of education; pressure of society; boyhood; carp-e-diem; friendship;

  • I think the sand animation was what got me hooked to the movie as a viewer. However, something that needs to be discussed is probably the DIALOGUE and DIALECT worked out in the script. I think that was absolutely brilliant; how somebody would say what.

  • I picked Christopher Nolan. His movies are very non-traditional and create breakthroughs in the way we experience Cinema. He works on a range of different genres but all of his films seem to have similar visual elements and his protagonists seem to have similar psychological streaks. There are probably names which are consistent with Nolan but, I am not aware...

  • Hi.. I am Surabhi.. I hope its not too late for me to join the course.. I will try to catch up soon.. My favourite movies are many and hence it is hard to decide. So, I am going to go with my recent favourite one - Inception
