  • work ethic is out of date. There has been a divergence between rich and poor that is now unbridageable and this knows no national boundaries. Capital is now all. See pikkety for a different world view.

  • Hi simon, if you want to investigate further consider reading rogers book. there is an interesting element with regards to how different adopter categories use different decision making criteria that we didn't have to time to discuss.

  • Hi Adrian, yes, great point. i am always reminded of this when I am asked to choose the 'British English' option on the iphone language settings.

  • Hi Cristina, not a bad thing if you don't need the new functions!

  • Hi Darko, i think this is an interesting comment. in research terms it might be interesting to consider the idea of 'lock-in'. there's a lot written about how difficult it is to dislodge ideas/innovations even when the alternatives are better. there's a well discussed example of the qwerty keyboard which might be of interest if you haven't seen it.

  • thanks for the comments Sherman. People who have a huge drive to create something new often find they need to go outside an organisational setting to achieve this e.g start-up. I guess one challenge is, as you suggest, to create an environment where an organisation can adapt its internal processes to enable this to become an engine for new innovation to emerge.

  • hi olivia, this looks interesting. i think you're right. there is a growing link between sustainability and innovation, driven by resource and ethical concerns. designers have a huge role to play here i think.

  • I would also think about maybe looking at Chebroughs model of open innovation which Krsto covers later. google images throws up many versions but this very popular with organisations right now.
