  • Numerous studies also suggest that immense stress can be inherited across multiple generations. A renowned neuroscientist at our university, Professor Rektor, has published a series of works exploring this concept. He has specifically investigated how stress is passed down from Holocaust survivors to their descendants - even to grandchildren! Thus, my...

  • I am inclined to the version that it was more about academic competition. However, I also see some features of collaborative learning there (including the competitiveness).

  • Nicely written. One reads a story and learns something in the process. Half a year ago I went to visit Cambridge and it was written at a pub that it was there that scientists from Cambridge announced the discovery of DNA for the first time (I can't remember the exact wording).

  • Hi! I am a biomedical engineer, who is keen on data science. Recently, I have been facing data science challenges coming from the area of genomics and precision genomics - more often than not. That's why I decided to join this course... I need to be able to talk to bioinformaticians, clinicians, and also to experts in biology - to all who are dealing with...

  • @ClaireO'Mahony, do not be afraid to be more specific! Teaching online who and what?

  • Power point is a good start! What about having some simple scenarios at the end of each block of your course? Here (in this course), it is enough to thing about one possible scenario. I would start with designing the learning outcomes of each block and then try to cover some of them with some simple scenarios aiming at avoiding common errors in configuration...

  • I am looking forward to play your scenario, Anna!

  • @AmitaVelhal, do not be afraid of technology. SBL is about pedagogy, so you are the right person to create a virtual scenario for the teaching science field.

  • Grammar & Conversation - it reminds me something like Theoretical biomedical disciplines (anatomy, pathology, pharmacology, etc.) & Clinical skills. Learners usually like and need to have it mixed. SBL with virtual scenarios is an ideal mixing approach, I would say...

  • I would like to see the result of this!!! Not the water leak, but the scenario ;-) !!

  • Yes, SBL can be very effective in preparation for other types of learning. I am sure that your scenario will enable your students to maximise the value of the subsequent session in the operating theatre!

  • Most of the systems are web-based, i.e. there is no need to install any special software within your system (iOS). Spcifically for iPad, there might be some issues with compatibility with the Safari web browser (you can easily avoid them by using Chrome or Firefox). The mentioned VUE systems developed by TUFTS is an app (not web-based), available for Windows,...

  • A useful list of tools! What about the mentioned VUE made by TUFTS? https://vue.tufts.edu/

  • I think that there is a dependency on the setting of the learning environment. For instance, in PBL, a good tutor will probably aim at guiding the group of learners through all scenario pathways to let them learn by mistakes. On the other hand, an individual learner may benefit from having the learning outcomes beforehand (instead of a facilitator/tutor) to...

  • Hello John, I am sure that this course will be useful for you to build engaging content in your particular area.
