First of all, we should define the term "success" as it can have a different meaning. In my opinion, success is directly related to other major factors such as personal circumstances, obligations or duties, economy, time...
In our case, I would say that a successful student takes full responsability for the learning of the course. -

Hi, I'm Judith Solanas and I'm from Barcelona (Spain). Barcelona may be a quite big city but the size is perfect to discover on foot. The climate of the city is generally warm and the beaches are nice and clean. Also, it has a lot of Spanish wine and cava, it has a very rich history, and it offers many ping-pong tables!

In 2018 I volunteered on girls' rights' and empowerment through sports programmes in rural and urban Zambia. -Change is the only constant, so I would make sure that within the planning of the programme we have different scenarios that might happen. IE if there is a cholera outbreak.
-Advocacy activities so that community members (especially those just recruited) are convinced that the programme is community owned.
-Long-term sustainability of the programme. -

My theory of change is about ending early child marriage.
I have expanded the strategies which are more focused on the girls needs, and stakeholder involvement and participation.
Strategies: 1) Empower girls: a wide range of programmes invest in girls, their participation, and their well-being; 2) Mobilise families & communities: families, communities... -
While technology before COVID had a negative connotation with regards to virtual-training and social engagement, COVID 19 has taught us indeed about the power of technology to reach youth internationally.
SfD programmes operate in such different and varied contexts, and what works in one country doesn't work in another one. However, if we look at the... -

I couldn't agree with more with the conclusions of the report.
-Many SfD programmes focus on the intervention instead of the environmental context in which SfD interventions take place. For instance: lack of resources (transportation, food), family responsabilities, social norms, inadequate staff training, political climate, etc. As a result, we often... -

I totally agree witht the statement which says that we have to put social problems first and at the core of the design of sport for development programs. I believe that idenfitying the need and defining the problem is rather easy. What's difficult is to change social norms and be able to break them down to provide a real change into a community. Undoubtedly,...

Totally agree! Changes in national policy and strategy can transform lives on the ground. However, I think that local sport organisations have to know where to find those policies, and how to implement them. Perhaps it would be good to invest in people who were responsible to train local sport organisations on how to properly apply the national policies

I have read some of the documents beforehand, and I also have used them to citate some of my recent research. Despite of being very thorough and extensive, I think that it´s very complicated to implement them at the local and/or regional level.
One of the priorities for local and regional governments is that NGO's and local sport organisations are aware of...

The strategy is the action plan, the outline which will guide the implementation.

I read the New Zealand government strategy "Women and Girls in Sports and Active Recreation, and overall I think that it addresses the key components of good policy.
-It has a set of specific and clear objectives, as well as the indicators and the measures. It explains the context through reliable and extensive data.
-There is a clear alignment between... -

I agree with all speakers who are expert in different areas. Furthermore, I think that the most important aspects when creating a policy are:
-Policy should be clearly aligned to non-sport development objectives, and natioanl development plans. Transversality and understanding of other sectors isa key concept and should be implemented accordingly.

Ending child marriage requires us to understand the complex drivers behing the practice in different contexts and adapt our interventions accordingly.

In my opinion, it is referred as a "forgotten right" because there might be people who sees it from a leisure or recreational point of view and not from a human right perspective, or because it's not a key priority initiative within the SDGs compared to other areas. So, if we think about the positive values of sport, it has the ability to create teamwork, which makes us work together and look past skin colour, gender, race, religion, etc because we are in it together.
