  • This video just sent me to my first awful presentation. Lack preparation, lack of confidence or audience engagement, etc.

  • I really like her presentation, the content, layout especially how she concluded with a summary of previous topics discuss. She can improve her delivery by engaging the audience through intriguing questions or funny stories, etc.

  • In as much as content will be desirable to delivery mode in every presentation, I think it depends on the presenter and to some extent, the audience. Someone can communicate effectively without any illustrations or contextual references. But if you are yourself struggling to covey ideas or engage with your audience like i'm used to, content shouldn't be the...

  • First of all, you need to identify a phenomena or challenge, maybe question current practices and try to find ways and answers in order to improve the issue discovered.

  • To whom much (info) is given, exceedingly responsibility is demanded and expected.

  • Strength: competent and skilled employees, equipment
Weakness: Limited capital, lack managerial skills to take larger business
    Opportunities: Absence of drive-through shops,

  • Zahra will suggest expanding to new territories and different delivery services.

  • It sometimes becomes tough for staff to develop interpersonal relationships

  • Success is the friend of complacency and an enemy of improvement, change or expansion to new territories.

  • Correct gathering of all this info can help to predict future sales, consumer behaviour or expectations, etc

  • There will be different preference in information on stakeholders

  • A business might take information on customer's product preference, comments or suggestions for improvements. As well as demographic data of its staffs and other stakeholders.

  • The week started with stakeholder management and prioritisation. It then followed by communication and how to effectively tackle change in a business. But most importantly, i got to release how adjusting to change can be difficult and resolved with PIE

The week started with stakeholder management and prioritisation. It then followed by communication and how to effectively tackle change in a business.

  • This covid-19 has presented a different challenge or change, some of us in college have to adopt steadily.

  • As a task-focused manager, motivating or encouraging employees can be very tough, but with practice you get use to it or a balance of both style of management.

  • To whom it may concern,
I hope this finds you in good health, I am Zahra- owner of Zahra Coffee at Portsmouth, UK. I recently bought one of your coffee machines (Machine specification), but unfortunately it has develop functionality issues.
This problem has resulted to fall in sales among other service issues. I would be glad if we could solve this problem...

  • A good communication skill will include; proficiency in a language in terms of fluency and clear written form. Not forgetting the ability to listen and understand.

  • As Ameera suggested, there might be a different cause for the plunge in productivity. The wrong decision will not only worsen current situation, but future decisions.

  • Customers, Coffee seed Suppliers, Competitors, Government or Authorities, etc

  • Whether it's ideas or sales targets it all falls on human capiatl.

  • I have learnt about the different methods of financing a business, the risk associated with each style of financing and its importance/advantages.
More importantly, i embrace the importance of cash or liquidity at hand compared to profitability in the short run.

  • exactly!!! She said "the shop was making profits previously"

  • She already said the shop was profiting initially so there was no need for borrowing elsewhere and i think some of the decision falls on her personality as a risk averse manager.

  • These statements can help someone in doubt;
"Your business might be profitable yet having poor or negative cashflow" but the vice versa.

  • I think long term profitability should be her major concern as a manager of SME.

  • Depending on her level of savings, i will suggest personal savings or may be floating 10%shares to Ameera with condition of buying-back in future.

  • Either self financing such as borrowing from savings account, relatives, etc or from the financial institutions like banks and floating of shares if the establishment is a limited liability company.

  • Either self financing such as borrowing from savings account, relatives, etc or from the financial institutions like banks and floating of shares if the establishment is a limited liability company.

  • Acquisition of resources which are essential in business management is base on monetary factors.

  • The week 1 session was although simple, there are different insights to every lesson and one of the most important issue is knowing yourself to choose the appropriate management style.

  • Yes. management or personality styles will influence decision making.

  • From the case study, one can not quite classify Cook into either of the management styles, as each different approach he took from where Jobs left behind was geared towards product innovation, he fell into both.

  • This is fascinating and impactful.

  • Knowing yourself will not only help you to choose the best management style, it will go a long way in helping to explain one's actions or behaviours, so to improve your relationship with followers and subordinates

  • A few managers i had the opportunity of working with had either one of these traits or a mixture and a subordinate, it takes a bit of time to adjust to a new style.

  • It is clear that being a task-focused manager will always help to improve your product and services delivery to the requirements of customers with a deficiency in poor working conditions or relations for employees.
That being said, people-focused management style can also help to improve service and product innovation.

  • For someone working with a managers, i've always align my style of working to my supervisors', but i will prefer being a task-focused person.

  • Apparently, i have already started discovering new angles to questions i had answers to, more importantly i want to add value and knowledge to what i had already.

  • I've had experience managing a family business and currently undertaking business management course in a HE.

  • Previously the term "business" was synonymous with profit making or wealth, but i have come to realise it can also mean the process of making the world a better place - taking advantages, making the best out of every situation.

  • heya! I am Gabby, a business management student. I am here on a personal development quest and i hope it i fulfil it. Thank u

  • I think the expenditure of the family in terms of wants such as entertainment, cinema, fun, vacation, etc. should be reduced to cover the insurance. These items are just luxury, but necessity should be the key subject towards expenditure in this tit budget.

  • Hello! Please I am Gabriel, a student at Teesside University, UK. I am currently reading a Masters program which covers some themes in this module. It's a new day and I'm ready to learn something new!!!!!!!!

  • It was really worth the time.

  • one of the best relationship marketing have currently experience was at Barclays Bank UK.

  • @AinaOdion-Akhaine even in these times of social media, nothing beats one-on-one transaction. Social media i think is one of the transactional marketing strategies to only boost one-time sale of a product. For instance i recently bought a phone on facebook market and that was all, the seller didn't reach out for my any comments.

  • It is sometimes the little things you do that enhanced this relationship. Having worked as a front-desk teller, what I noticed was that, customers like to be called by their names. And that was what I used most a times.

  • Exactly!! but in terms of ranking, scenario (2) is the best opportunity to engage in relationship marketing.

  • A) Guiding the customer through the specs of the PC, asking some questions about what they intend to use the machine for and suggest for them. Use a survey to collect after-sales ratings.
    B) Engage the customer in some personal conversation by asking some general questions about work, family, etc

  • Interesting!!. obviously anyone who knows relationship marketing will always choose it as a means of marketing, but it takes a lot of time and resources to develop these long-term relationships, this is why most newly set-ups prefer the transactional marketing

  • What it fails to outline is that the relationship marketing is costly and it takes a longer time to develop such relationships.

  • Basically the main differentiation is that the relationship-marketing involves going the extral mile in terms of customer service in order to ensure the customer-brand interaction emerges into the future.

  • I am familiar with the power/interest matrix, but this assessment is also facinating

  • Basically all the expectations and needs on the persona group draft aligns with the interests of each stakeholder during the assessment.

  • I used to take feedbacks into consideration untill i saw how organisations hire people to give positive ratings to their products online.

  • can you elibrate? how will you purchase something you've never used before?

  • As someone who is very tight on spending, I recently bought a Phone which was released last two yrs ago, after using my previous phone for four yrs. Utilitarian reasons out-weights everything when making a purchase.

  • @CynthiaJonas as i commented, sometimes USP can be in the form physical artefacts which serve as a competitive advantage over your competitors. For instance, I would prefer to have my coffee in a shop that has free WiFi and space.

  • It should be noted that, sometimes USP can be in the form of physical artefacts in your business which might be missing your competitors'. This can be availability of space, flowers and free Wireless internet WiFi

  • hello!! I am Gabriel, and I'm after a short break from this platform.

  • I like this angle of analysis

  • The culture of SpeedCoi is embedded in their core value as being individuality, speed, service and excellence. This org. is diverse, multi-cultured and welcoming to innovative ideas with less supervision, but less attention to employees' welfare.
From the Functionalist perspective, this culture of SpeedCo is influenced by the services render and demanded by...

  • @YemisiBolade-Ogunfodun Thanks for the clarification.....looking forward to more of such assistance

  • @AishatuJahun very well said!! almost every major cooperation is now profiting on "making the world a better place". With global focus on climate change and sustainable development, everyone is in-cooperating these themes to the cooperate social responsibilities. The lines between them are slightly blurry these days.

  • In order to be the leading financial institution in terms of compliance and anti-money laundry issues, the organisation has a manual operation book, which has the procedures to undertake every transaction, whiles periodic modifications are added.
HR department in their capacity spend amble time training staffs issues such as, approaching risky transactions...

  • In managerial sense, the way of conduct, hiring process, doing transactions and hierarchy of leadership are mostly outlined by Management/HR.
No-managerial wise, every individual has his/her intrinsic character, which would influence their everyday thinking and behavior in the organisation, outside management control.

  • Very educative session, but i would like to know which of these services (orientation or induction) would be suitable for an existing employee, climbing the organisation's ladder through promotion or diversification to a different department/sector??

  • Personally the first and only organization i have the opportunity of working in has a strict attitude towards compliance issues in whatsoever, but even now and then we relax some of these proceeds put in place. Visiting other similar but slightly different institutions, i have seen a wide variation towards this theme

  • I am completely into the "Interpretivist" theory that, the significance and reasons for engaging in a cultural activity, ceremony, artefact should be sought objectively without any prejudices and subjective conclusion/explanation.

  • So the inherent characteristics of a group of a person/group which differentiate him/them from others is CULTURE...Thanks

  • you took the words from my mind!!
i hope to benefit a lot from this new initiative

  • Gabriel Kwame Chikpa is my name and i am here to learn and to be learnt from. international management is my field of study and i am here to explore

  • Culture is basically the way of life of a group of people, this include both material and non-material aspect of their lives. Organisational culture seeks to explore the tangible and intangible sections of an organization

  • Even though it seem easier answering these Qs in your comfort, it will seem a little difficult infront of a panel/interviewer.

  • @StephenDavie please which section of the CV can one add his/her certificate of achievements and how should it read??

  • Any idea of where to add certificate of achievements ??? is it at the prof. dev't section or Skills??

  • really supportive, but where can i add my certificates of course completion???

  • It's always important to write in a second person's perspective

  • This section really helpful for me.

  • i hope the next chapter explain these sessions in full

  • Just preparing for a VISA interview and i really find this section helpful. Thank you

  • i would like to take AMY as my target customer. As a young professional in a new department for the first time would be tedious, hence with the assistance of email marketing, i would occasionally send her items and tips needed for a new home.
Email marketing would help to enhance sales through sending of brochures of items in the store that would be necessary...

  • Almost every successful company i see in my country uses an integrated Digital Marketing system, but i would like to see something on customers' data privacy.

  • As much as you want to increase traffic and sales keep in mind ''But what we don't want to be doing is bombard our customers with lots of messages that probably aren't very relevant to them".

  • i eventually end up unsubscribing to their emails on the first mail

  • i am completely new to this form digital advertising, so i'm down to anything.

  • Inorganic results have always been misleading and full of ads, hence i don't border to click on such results.

  • From experience, i have now settle on never to click on any organic or first search results due to their misleading and irrelevant contents. In the name of traffic, most of these sites most at times have catchy ads

  • The kind of customers would determine which ad to use, for instance, if your advert is geared towards only the organisation's customers, then a banner on its website is ideal.

  • The banner form advert as read is very common, so enhance traffic, you need to be different and creative.

  • Supper markets sometimes take contact details of customers, hence such info can be used in E-mail Advertising and sometimes social media adv

  • As much as digital marketing has numerous advantages over the traditional style, i hate to see ads when i am online, i think this is why i like @FutureLearn as a study hub.

  • I would like to add to point four (4), that digital marketing eliminate language barriers, by the fact that contents can be easily translated to suit the customer's language over the internet.

  • As a novel in this area, i'm willing to learn anything

  • Just want to adventurous before the year ends.

  • As discussed already, i am going to gather evidence and find participants who share in my interest.

  • lovely exercise, lengthier and some questions were repetitive.

  • i like the self assessment of know yourself and how prepared you are for task of such magnitude. Also in cooperating different sectors of the community helps to know the consequences of ones' actions

  • I have always imagine a policy document would be in specific pattern/format and documents just like a business plan, just be yourself and most importantly have a passionate policy.
I like the fact that outcomes or results should be measurable in order to determine the impact of a policy at the end of the day.
