  • I enjoyed the structure and how you learnt about the theorists first and then the marketing section as it really helped to gain a better understanding. I also enjoyed the articles and the discussions about them in the comments. It really helped me understand more and gave me different view points.

  • Not much has changed about how I view consumer psychology however I found it very interesting. This will really help with my degree and the way I view marketing.

  • Surprised how deep the market segmentation process went.

  • Product: A stand-alone full-length mirror with ring lights.

Demographic: mainly women aged 16-30 - high income.

Behavioural: Women/men are willing to pay a high price for a good quality product/investment.

Psychographic: Image conscious people who enjoy taking photos of themselves/ outfits and posting it on Instagram. Could be online influencers....

  • Coca-Cola or Apple are the two companies that always come straight to mind.

  • I think they are aiming this bar at people who are health conscious and also those who prefer home-cooked/non-processed by using the name 'home cakery.'
Also, cereal bar are for people who are on the go so it could be marketed at those who are busy due to work etc but still health-conscious. Or people who like snacks but want to be healthy or to parents who...

  • I think that it was clever to have different adverts based on different ethnic groups. Therefore the car will appeal to more people as each group has been targeted. They have looked at the different segment variables and marketed the car to them accordingly.

  • Adam Smith traditional view of marketing suggests that the needs of the customer are more important then the needs of the production and that 'consumption is the sole end and purpose of all production' - so there is no point producing a good if no one is going to buy it. This is similar to consumer-oriented marketing as the needs and the wants of the customer...

  • The idea that an effective marketing campaign not just be the most straightforward 'to the point advertising' but actually looking it from a different angle and coming from a different perspective can be better.

  • Marketing is understanding the customer's needs and wants and then satisfying them by offering a product or service.

  • Ellen Procter made a comment

I am most looking forward to further linking consumer psychology and behaviour to marketing.

  • Consumer psychology is understanding what the customer is thinking and their behaviour during the buying process. It emerged in the early 1900s but became more important post WW1 with the growth of consumerism promoted by the government in order to rebuild the economy.

  • I found it interesting when the theories explained at what points the consumer was open to influence from companies in order to make a decision and the studies about how people remembered things based on it being just audio or visual.

This model differs from Howard and Sheth as it focuses on post-purchase behaviour. It analyses whether the product was useful to the customer or not.

  • For me, I normally change my mind quickly if it is an impulse buy. I suddenly think 'do I actually need it' and what else I could be spending this money on.

  • I think that product placement can be effective when done correctly. Just by constantly subconsciously seeing a companies product or name it can result in people buying products. Also if it is a well-respected TV show like Coronation Street that people do love, they may feel more inclined to shop at Costa etc if they trust and love the show they...

  • Freud stated that the conscious state was less important than the unconscious state. It is linked as the article shows that by playing on the unconscious feelings such as an underlying need for power, it compelled people into buying products linked to this feeling.

  • Non-rational as it uses words such as 'perfect' and 'highest' - trying to persuade consumers that it is the best product.

  • Psychology is what customers think and do based on cognitive functions and behaviour is how they act on this.

  • I found it interesting how she highlighted the fact that consumer psychology is something that drives all marketing decisions and how it impacts marketing campaigns. I am currently doing a degree in fashion marketing and hope to go into marketing afterwards and haven't yet learnt about consumer psychology.

  • To me, consumer psychology is what a customer thinks when buying items or browsing in stores and what can convert them into a paying customers. Understanding consumer psychology can help brands and shops encourage customers to buy items. I think it emerged along with highstreets and when the market became crowded resulting in competition.

  • I liked, as someone who wants to go into fashion marketing when I am older it was intrestng to think what I would do to premote sustainable fashion or reducition of fast fashion.

  • I chosie to do the cultural agenda/ wellbeing of human and animals.
My question is "how might we get people to engage in fashion and make it more personal?"

My idea was: something similar to lush where you are able see who made the item. You maybe able to make the label where the price is personal. Maybe said who made the product, what company and how...

  • I am really bad at throwing away clothes so I end up with in a influx of clothes for every occasion. Becuase I buy so much and enjoy buying clothes I mainly end up buying cheap clothes from online websites which I am sure have a very large footprint and are not ethnically produced.

I probably have a few high end jumpers that buy but they are still from...

  • Try and find cost effective, better alternatives if you are selling products that will increase your footprint. Try and ethnically source main materials.

  • I can understand why many large companies don't want to be transparent to customers as it can have a detrimental impact on their business. However, many people know about Primark and how they opertate but still continue to shop there (they have recently posted an article defending their prices - I am abit behind the course.) I think companies do need to be...

  • I have recently been aware of Nike selling vegan leather shoes which is really intresting and hopefully one day all their shoes will be vegan as clearly they are finding alternative methods. I have found a website which lists all vegan shoes (mainly trainers) however it is in Euros and I am from the Uk. https://www.schuhdealer.com/vegan/?p=2

  • The main problem for me is cotton. I buy alot of clothes that have at least some percentage of cotton in it and I highly doubt that this cotton is sustainable ( especially from places such as PrettyLittleThing.

This one greenpeace talks direclty about the environmental issues. I find this important as the environment is something we need to look after. It also allows you to sign the manifesto.

    https://silviagiovanardi.com/manifesto/
I have never heard of this brand but I like...

  • I selected the ecological agenda. This has a intrest to me as really shows the wider effects of the fashion industry. Not only do you understand the importance of sustainable fashion on the industry such as running low on materials like silk but it also shows the strain it has on the environment and other communities. Creating water stress in different (often...

  • I decided to focus on the ecological agenda. Climate change is a real issue and many other large sectors such as the cosmetic industry also need to fucos on sustainability. For me the impact of pestisides on cotton farms has a major impact on the surrounding areas and espically when the cotton farms are in poorer countries. This impacts on so many people that...

  • I value: health, freedom of speech/creativity etc, education and equality.

  • Sustainabilty in fashion is so important as the negative affects of fashion affect so many people and affects the environment in so many different ways. With the fashion industry being a large sector it needs to take responsbility for the impact it is having on people's lives. Also it is important in most recent years due to the development of fast, throwaway...

  • Hi my name is Ellen and I am a student in Cornwall. I am in my final year of Alevels and looking to entre the fashion industry. I think it is important for me to educate myself on sustainable fashion and the importance of sustainable fashion as it is an important part of the industry.

  • Yeah but the way I saw it was that they knew what they were doing what they had to pay, the specific amounts etc. To me it seemed like they were very organised.

  • I pledge to think more about my clothing options and try think less about the price and realise who i'm buying from and the individual people that the company effects. e.g. the women who wrote the diaries.

  • The action I would take is using my knoweldge about non ethical brands i'll take a conscious effort to be more ethical myself. I will also speak to others about this and try and make them realise what is actually going on in the fashion buiness and try and make them think less about the price e.g. how cheap it is, and think about what they are supporting when...

  • I think what goes on behind the scenes in brands need to be common knowledge to make people more aware. I feel like Primark is a company that everyone knows they treate all thier staff wrong. But linking to make up many peple know that l'oreal use animal testing and that is common knowledge but other may not know that Benefit do as well. I think everyone needs...

  • If you have a bought an item previously that you no lomger support I think you should just keep the piece until you know lomger need it. When replacing it we should conciously choose what brand we go from and try and be more ethical with our choices. If the piece is a basic or in fashion atm you'll be able to get a close replica from a different store that you...

  • I don't think consumers have much power. It would to take millions of people to stop buying from that store. A good example of this is Primark. Many feel like they do not want to shop with them as they are so unethical. But millions still do for the cheap prices so Primark still has a large market share. They may change a little to apeal to more people or...

  • My item is made in Bangladesh and made of cotton so there is alot about child labour in that counrty and how other shops such as HM are cracking down on it. I was surprised as my T-Shirt is from Urban Outfitters and as they charge a lot more money than other stores I thought they wouldn't use child labour. I was unable to find out this informatio from them...

  • I was amazed on how long the days were, some getting up at 6:30 and not going to sleep untill 11/12 in the evening. For working almost 10 hours a day I'm surprised that many people weren't exhausted. Also I was surpised about the hour lunch break. Where I work I only get one 30 min break if I work over 6 hours and we do not get paid on this break. I was...

  • It didn't let me add any pictures so I couldn't add to the map...

  • Item 1. Blue top - Urban Outfitters I just bought online its super cool and oversized so I can tie it up in a knot. 100% cotton, made in Bangladesh.

Item 2. White Flynit Vapourmax - Nike. First pair of expensive trainers I have ever bought and really spent my money on. It doesn't seem to have the materials labeled? Made in Vietnam.

    Item 3. White...

  • One top I have recently bought is from Urban Outfitters. It's 100% cotton so as mentioned in the video the cotton has been picked from workers. The stitching is very minimal no pockets or anythig fancy but there are still seams that would of had to be stitched. It is coloured blue but UO sell the same style but in many colours, so dying would of taken place as...
