  • “Nothing for us, without us” is a powerful statement that makes it easier to create policies and planning

  • As a girl growing up in a mixed school, where sports was forced onto us like waking up at 5am for compulsory jogging , it was always hard to see the value of sports. As an adult, sports can be made enjoyed and accessible for all. Once the sport is enjoyable it becomes easier to keep young people active either for talent development or social benefits.

  • Strategy is the entire plan while implementation is the action towards achieving this plan. The two go hand in hand. WIthout strategy there is no implementation. There are times when things get done but with little strategy in place, most of the times, there is little or no sustainability of goal intended.

  • Mauritius policy on sports is quite impressive is comprehensive, easy to understand with well laid out goals. It is also inclusive and not entirely focusing on just professional aspect of sports. A good policy that includes everyone and ultimately a whole round picture that caters for health, and productivity of all is good for sports.

  • very informative document.

  • Consultation and implementation are key elements to the process. It is at times common to find conflicts in the implementation stage because stakeholders were not consulted.

  • An ambigious policy cannot be implemented, so being clear and precise is vital.

  • https://opm.go.ug/sdgs/ The SDGs policy and implementation is through the office of the Prime minister and even though alot of progress has been made towards various goals, there remains a wider gap between the rural and urban areas in awareness and implementation

  • Policy is indeed for the wider picture, it is perhaps most important in defining how we move towards achieving our objectives.

  • Thought provoking.

  • Useful tool.

  • I found these relatable and useful .

  • The initiative is a good idea although it must come hand in hand with other complementary aspects. The idea that sports can solve every social evil might also be overrated, especially because there are cultural religious and social biases that should be addressed before onset of such projects. Therefore I would advice my friend to deliberately involve parents...

  • Even though it might seem like environmental sustainability might not weigh the same value as the other two, the three themes must come alive as we forge ahead. There is great value in protecting the rights of participants as well as involving everyone, it gives a great sense of ownership of the industry and more impact is created. The opposite would be...

  • Vital to know where you are headed and what you what to achieve.

  • It is important to have a vision at the back of your mind. I remember one particular time, I had tournaments running in some communities and even though the numbers were increasing, the question at the back of our minds that kept coming back was what was the vision for the project, what was the sustainability plan in the long run. Until we addressed these...

  • Partnership for goals, quality education and industry , innovation and infrastructure

  • In March, just before locked down, I was privileged to led an amazing team that hosted the Global Goals World Cup- East Africa, Uganda. We saw the power of sports and how it can be used to deliver great message of the SDGs. Imagine grandmothers who have never played football before, forming a team and playing for Goal 8. Sports is perhaps , the best tool so...

  • It is impressive to read about the growth of Sports for development . So many milestones, and great impact. I however believe there initiatives must coexist and collaborate if they are to create greater impact. It would be wasteful to replicate objectives that is being done by another within the same scope.

  • Apart from being physical activity, sport is connector to our mental health, giving those who engage in it the benefits of psychological stability.

  • Yes, Mandela was correct to say that sport has the “power to change the world” and according to his situation he had witnessed this power. It also worth noting that sport in its self cannot forter this change without other existing forces. The leadership that is willing to influence people, the knowledge of the sport itself or even the facilities are among...
