  • Glad to meet the team. Excited to be learning from them.

  • I think looking to other African countries that have successfully implemented waste management systems and learning from them would be a first step. Of course we may need to adapt to suit our particular needs.

  • This is an area which definitely needs engagement and proper consultations. Needs assessments that involves the beneficiaries, policymakers and experts to identify and implement effective solutions

  • Very dire situation

  • I agree. It's a very complex situation.

  • Interesting

  • Good point

  • Exactly

  • Very true

  • That may be true reality is that for most of informal settlements already exist a lot and something needs to be done about them. I think it's very good idea to recognise inhabitants as stakeholders and engage them in planning and decision-making.

  • By engaging with stakeholders and giving everybody a voice.

  • TheColoniser was very good at using divide and rule techniques. Which left the legacy of people distrusting each other over years. When in fact all they were really interested in was protecting their interests and Keeping the Colonised nations subdued to British power.

  • Very impressive. Consultations and collaboration usually yields practical results. The community meet more initiatives like that and more in investments. Youths are hungry what opportunities and I ready to make the most out of them.

  • As well as involving people living in the community. Technical expertise is also needed. Methods that have proven to work in a similar environments must be adapted and applied. Therefore consultations is necessary. This allows the community to state their needs, contribute and suggest Solutions to the problem and allowing the experts to deliver something that...

  • Top-down approaches to development rarely works. The most effective way is that involve people. Collaboration is key. Answers answers come from The people. Ultimately the solutions they come up with Will be the best.

  • I have a lot of respect and admiration for these women. It's all about dignity and maintaining their self esteem. They deserve all the support they can get.

  • Recognising informal settlements is not enough. They should be given Basic amenities and build them up to small villages or towns.

  • Informal settlements are usually slums. Living conditions are poor an full of crime.

  • state can own some land but not all. Thats problematic.@ISAACAROPET

  • We definitely need to look at alternative solution. I find the suggestions very interesting.

  • The tragedy was a clear manifestation manifestation of social injustice and spatial injustice. Very sad

  • Thanks for the video. It was nostalgic to drive-through Freetown. Although the transport form didn't exist when I lived there. I guess it's a form of Community is evolving because I understand the kekes can sometimes be faster and more flexible they can get to places that regular taxis don't..
I miss home with all its imperfections.

  • me too

  • I agree that language is very important especially when the stent is to communicate incisively for collaboration

  • we definitely need better representation

  • Gender and disability are most commonly used to discriminate. The differences are not natural but as social constructs that maintains the status quo.

  • The concept of spatial injustice is new to me and I find it very interesting. It also resonates with me and is something that must be addressed when planning cities so we have social justice across-the-board for everyone.

  • Sounds exciting

  • Vex experience all of the above . My reaction is to asses the situation to determine the approprate reaction. This ranges from ignoring to seeking disciplinary action action in a work environment . Mostly I find that being my authentic self and being proud of my race and culture worked best

  • My grandparents were Muslims and were tolerant to polygamy which I'm not even though I'm Muslim . They were also intolerant to inter religious marriage and I think people should marry who they love regardless of religious. I'm intolerant to polygamy because it has the tendency to make people struggle for scarce resources that would not be stretched in a...

  • As an African I'm used to people using stories to discuss important issues. Storytelling is a key part of our culture. However I understand that not every one understands that so I pre frame them if Im going to use to stories.

  • In try to learn the basics of greeting and a few words in the local language wherever I go and it makes bonding easier.I'm cautious with humour and don't use until I get to know people a bit better and I think adopting some local traditions helps develop relationships and build bridges
