  • Thanks @HelenOxley Helen. I like the use of the word "safe" environment. I think a community has a be a place where you shouldnt be afraid to make mistakes.

  • Thanks @ChristiaanBoshoff for your suggestions. Yes, those websites are great for learning. Future Learn is of course a great place and I effectively learnt all about Padlet mainly from this experience. I personally use Twitter as the ONLY social media platform to learn. You can find my twitter handle in my profile. I limit my followers and basically just...

  • Me too @PatriciaBenvenuti . I think discussing strategies on the sofa in the staffroom or even at the end of the day for 5 -minutes can be so useful. Expectations I suppose are lower, you can ask the “silly” questions as well without being embarrassed and it’s more personable.

  • What a great idea @BarbaraStucky . Empowering students to be the teachers. They are the digital natives after all.

  • I think peer teaching @DenisePurcellSchutte is a great idea. I go to courses mainly by myself and on the odd occasion. I go with a colleague it is very rewarding. You discuss ways to integrate these new pedagogy into the school. It’s almost like having a team of learners,

  • But doesn't it feel great when you overcome a barrier!! But then again when you are up against so many its hard.

  • @AnsorUshahembaMichael, well said. Even though times are different now and culture of education has changed due to influence of technology, we still need inspiring teacher to motivate us to achieve.

  • Totally agree @ShiuKumar. I think the thirst for learning has increased due to access to digital tools. Teachers have to manage the speed of change and the growing appetite of students and parents to utilise technology in the classroom.

  • Some great points @BelindaGermeshuizen . I think the pressure should be directed towards management to invest in these opportunities and structures. In previous school, senior leaders would visit other schools using digital technology and basically "steal" ideas. Its totally legitimate to do this to gain an insight in to "how" they achieved something.

  • Really agree with your thinking @PaulRobben. I think support also comes down to different types- Of course we need hardware and software support but also pedagogical support. I have found the best support is when leadership allows teachers to explore apps and ideas without the fear of failure. Almost giving them a dummy run of pedagogical approach. But most...

  • Some great points raised. Thanks @HelenOxley and @MaryMcKee for some insightful comments. I have worked overseas liked you Mary and I agree sometimes environments with more money, flood their schools with new technology and then believe that it will initiate teachers to adopt new pedagogy. I think routine and rules need to be embedded before we see an impact...

  • I agree @EstherRosilloPascual. I think we need to start with the "why" before we deploy. Its easy to fall into the mindset that- WOW!, this app looks good and fun and I will use it. We are blinded by this and the learning aspect/outcome is often secondary. If we can switch this we will find out that the fun comes after using such platforms and apps.

  • Some great comments raised @EduardoMórlan. Thank you. Mindsets in educational technology is something i face on a daily basis and i have learnt after 16 years in education they don't change overnight. I think it has to begin with confidence. If teachers are not confident, the mindset will be fixed. We talk in the UK about growth mindset and its something we...

  • I think teachers like scratch or block based coding because it is so visual and colourful whereas text based you lose that function. I often try and use them side by side. It harder to wean the kids away from Scratch but I do agree they like the challenge of a new concept of text based coding. Opens up new avenues and generates new skills.

  • Im Hiten Mistry. Looking forward to communicating with you all. I teach eLearning at Putney High School in London. I teach computing and oversee a lot of the digital provision for learning in the school. We are a 1:1 ipad from the age of 8. I have taught internationally and in the UK. I enjoy block based coding as it lends it self well to stories , animations...

  • Well said Andrés. I totally agree. We also need to start with the “why” are we using this QUESTION.

  • A really good point Mbachilin. I agree about the mobile banking app and we see this in the UK with less people visiting banks. I see the rise of Netflix and Amazon Prime as huge disrupters in the way we watch TV programme. The idea of watching "live" TV except for sport fixtures, is really diminishing.

  • Such powerful and insightful videos. I would love to share this with colleagues and parents within my school community. I think as educators we have to shine a positive light on how the digital transformation is empowering our students but also we are educating them about the risks.

  • Hiten Mistry made a comment

I really want to empower teachers with the transformation that is occurring. I don't want them to overwhelmed with the vast changes that are occurring. I think once we build confidence in our educators, this can filter down to our pupils.

  • Thanks @YonnaShe for your comment. I totally agree. I receive many emails a day and where I can (if its a person that works in the same building) I try and visit them and talk to them about any support they need. Having this dialogue is really important and gives the trainer insight into not just "what" they want to learn but "how". I think as trainers, I...

  • This is a good point Liz. A conducive environment to learn for teachers is important. And like you mentioned, evening are a good time. Also it makes you in control and sometimes learners like that "privacy" to acquire that new knowledge and to learn at their own pace. In an environment with many teachers all trying to learn the same thing, can be a...

  • Thank you. I totally agree with your comments. Students are growing up in a digital age and can engage with technology different from us, educators who I assume have had to learn it.

  • Thanks @RitikaKochar . You raise a great point from your own experience. Applying things taught and trainees choosing the right strategy for them is essential. And you had the time to embed this into practice. I always find that collaborative approaches to post CPD sessions are very useful. I have led a session and then a few weeks later I have followed up...

  • A valid point Silvia. If you are not motivated to do something, then whats the point? As someone who sometimes delivers certain Digital Pedagogy CPD, I often find myself having to "sell" it to my colleagues. Sometimes there needs to be an incentive- impact on children, reducing workload. I think consultation is important and coming to a consensus but we need...

  • A great point @SueSpeakman. I think as teachers, despite our lack of technical ICT skills we are developing strategies to resolve ICT problems by thinking of alternatives and having as you mentioned: resilience. I think if we can model this to other teachers, it will empower them to not simply give up when technology goes wrong. Which inevitably will from...

  • This is a great comment Iain. The more of a community we can develop and expand, the greater the resource bank. All the digital tools I have ever used have been recommended to me. We don't need to reinvent the wheel. Its out there.

  • Well done Catherine. Launching a new platform like that is not easy and getting teachers on board with such a diverse and multi functional app is a great achievement.

  • Yes Mark, attitude is key. A positive mindset in using new digital tools will envitably lead to success. When I was a class teacher and I was introduced to new skills, I had to invest that time into it to gain insight into its impact. They say practise makes perfect and it’s so true when using new tools or stepping out of comfort zones.

  • Thanks Nath for your comment. Your insight as a parent in the use of technology for your child is really useful. Balance I think is a key but I think we need to prepare the children we teach for a world of employment that will utilise digital skills to s great extent.

  • Jacqueline, your last paragraph is completely spot on. We are entering (or perhaps we are already there) of a time of personalised learning where accounts, passwords, Virtual Learning Platforms, etc are becoming more and more prevalent. I think teachers are beginning to realise that using such platforms shortens their work flows. This ultimately saves them...

  • Hi Phoebe. Thanks for your post and I am sorry to hear of the difficulty you face with the poor adult with the migraine. It is frustrating that such things make using technology laborious and acts as a hindrance when you are safeguarding the well being of your students. Have you considered using mobile devices so that you can mirror directly onto them?...

  • I think the pace of technological advances in Education with new apps, websites, pedagogy, devices, etc is a challenge. It takes time to build a reliable system of using ed tech tools to enable teachers to become comfortable and to measure its impact. I am curious about Educational technology and how in the hands of the learners can drive learning to places...
