  • The last four weeks have been my best times this year. I learnt so much. Thanks to the British Council, Facilitators, and fellow Future leaders.

  • Ready, Ayo!

  • A clear understanding of what needs to be done to get your policy adopted is the most important force in the policy implementation process. The stage at which you are trying to confirm your hypotheses (the problem) is when you will be needing statistical evaluation the most.

  • After taking hard statistical data about education inaccessibility in Nigeria, same will be related to the policy makers. Therefore I'm using evidence to balance my passion of seeing that everyone has access to quality education in Nigeria.

  • Problem: Education Inaccessibility to Majority in Nigeria (especially Northern Nigeria).

Hypothesis: Only two of every five children birthed in Nigeria ultimately get to undergo university education.

It is merely an hypothesis, confirming this will be done through scientific evaluation. One way to do this is to do a national investigation into the...

  • I find the presentation of the second speaker more compelling, he stressed with no ambiguity how quality-based and quantity-based evidence can intrigue not just the policy makers but also the emotions of the general citizenry. This is key. One thing I felt was not stressed was that mere evidence presentation might not yield much, you also have to do a...

  • This sounds like it's going to be another explosive round! I'm all ready!!

  • My passion is to ensure that all classes of persons have access to QUALITY EDUCATION in Nigeria. My prospective policy is to put education grants in place for low-income people, while also passing into law that primary to higher education is compulsory. Then the curriculum will be reviewed, as it is long outdated. Against the Four metrics as discussed in Step...

  • Future Leaders, I look forward to having more insightful engagements with you in the next series of lessons. Much love.

  • This course is the best thing that happened to me in ages. Thanks to British Council. I'm looking forward to even more mind-blowing sessions.

  • The similarity in the policy visions is the burning desire to influence the world, and make it a better place.

  • I was completely blown away by the delivery of the webinar. Thank you. I have learnt so much about policy making and implementation. Trust me, I will make you proud.

  • As a core Nigerian, I have been conditioned to think that policy making is solely the responsibility of political actors and government officials, but I was educated in the video that there are different classes of people are involved in policy making, as obtained in other climes. Great, we unlearn and re-learn everyday!

  • I'm in awe after seeing that majority here voted 'the community as a whole' as the policy makers. This could meant two things: It's either that obtains in their environment, or they misinterpreted the question to be 'In an ideal community, who creates policy?'. In my country; Nigeria, The politicians are unarguably the policy makers. This is so disheartening...

  • One thing is sure; you can't underrate an educated mind! Education widens one's horizons and thereby open up one's mind to a world of unlimited potentials. I consider policies touching education accessibility as the most important among the spectrum of policies mentioned. A well educated mind will definitely see to solving other societal ills. Education...

  • @OshioneAgunu , You are absolutely correct. We don't necessary need to be in position of authority to effect change. However, to achieve the effect in high scale, there is no alternative to making relevant policies by policy makers. @OmololaAsagba has aptly pointed out the actionable steps that can 'force' the people in authority to act swiftly, and I agree.

  • We can stage protests, petition authorities, and make some reasonable progress, great! However, if policy makers don't see in the same light, there is so little impact those aforementioned can cause. No impact is actually little. But if we want a revolutionary, crystal-clear change, the policy makers have to be major players. Agree?

  • The definitions of policy as given by the various commentators are excellent, but the one that best resonates with me is the definition that policy is an agreed decision that will guide the implementation of a certain programme. This definition is simple, yet all-encompassing. It contains all the necessary elements of policy formulation - Decision, Agreement,...

  • I tell you.

  • So far, I have enjoyed the course. I'm particularly stunned about the simplicity with which the course is presented. This is definitely it!

  • Tony O. Elumelu, Chairman of United Bank for Africa and founder of Tony Elumelu Foundation (TOF). Tony is building a network of African Entrepreneurs through TOF to foster Economic Development in Africa. He is the father of what is now known as Afri-capitalism. He inspires me everyday by his selflessness and doggedness in achieving a new Africa.

  • The problem of inaccessibility of quality education to all Nigerians can only be addressed at a macro-level. Policy makers at the helm of affairs have to formulate policies that is pointy in solving this problem. There is so little an individual that is not in the relevant helm of affairs can do. I will do my best in positioning myself at the relevant helm of...

  • Omolola, this problem is cancerous and has to be dealt with if we want a Nigeria of our dream. Like you said, ASAP!

  • As regards solving education inaccessibility problem in Nigeria, I'm most confident about step 3 - "What the world needs" as I have identified without doubt that inaccessibility of all to quality education is a major bane to the development of Nigeria. Right now, I'm trying to work on step 2 - "what we can do", actionable plans have to be worked out and the...

  • A chunk of the Nigerian populace has no access to quality education (especially in the Northern Nigeria). This and many other factors have crippled the development of Nigeria, Nigeria is nowhere near the elitist countries in the world. I'm passionate about having a Nigeria where there is access to QUALITY EDUCATION to all. I strongly opine that quality...

  • Thanks for the tips, they'll definitely be of immense help in getting the best out of this course.

  • Policies change everything! At the end of the course, I hope to have learnt how to practically formulate policies and the best policy implementation route.
