Activity

  • Hello, this is Aqse Zahra, I hail from Pakistan.

  • good luck

  • I think I can start with the cartoons like tom and jerry. The animation was different in the 90s or before that but really transformed afterward. I remember watching Disney movies as a kid, and the transformation can be seen and felt now because of the technology. A few of the movies/seasons that I really admire regarding production are Doctor Strange, Life of...

  • I think one of the production designs that I really love and that really inspires and motivates me is Life of Pi. It is very difficult to make a scene come alive and I think David Gropman did a phenomenal job. I also liked the production design of Peaky Blinders, it was according to the characters, feelings, and scenes. I also liked the imagery in The lake...

  • This sounds interesting

  • Hi, I'm Aqse Zahra and I love films! I did my majors in electronic media and wanted to learn in-depth about it. This course is my first stop, let's go!

  • Why is gender so closely linked to sex, and what are the implications of the association?
I think this has to do with generalization and construction of society- because I have seen women achieving the same as men and not lesser and I have seen men kinder and warmer, so like I don't think we should be associating or assigning characters or qualities to...

  • Hi, I'm Aqse Zahra and I'm eager to learn about this topic. How inequalities have shaped our society and what we can, individually and collectively do to minimize or close the gaps.

  • Hello, I am Aqsey. Looking forward to learning the art of storytelling!

  • Hello, I'm interested in this topic because I have seen the effects of trauma in people and how coping gets difficult, and would like to educate myself more about it.

  • It is essential for a society to strive for better, and for the peace, that people who live together must be respectful of each other. Society and individuals need to have acceptance and compassion to restore or ensure the dignity, safety and tolerance

  • Human dignity for me is knowing all humankind is born equal and treating them as one, without discrimination or any biases- Restoring that dignity is also essential.

  • Hi this is Aqse Zahra, and what sparked my interest was human rights violations around the world and how can we speak out against it in a better way.

  • Hi this is Aqse, and I love writing but want to be amazing at it. I have learned film production at my university and want to enhance my skills. My favorite movies include before sunrise, the lake house, eternal sunshine of a spotless mind, a beautiful mind, girl interrupted and basically those with strong writing content. I believe the essence of movies, lies...

  • It has become less sociable because I think people's focus has shifted from conversing to winning the argument.

  • I think security is about the sense of feeling secure in a country and take the country as home.

  • Wow this sounds exciting and wonderful. I think there are very less makerspaces in my community but we can make it happen :)

  • Hi this is Aqse Zahra from Pakistan. I wanted to learn more about makerspace and how can i play a role to improve it so decided to join the course.

  • Thank you for the opportunity. This course has not only taught us about policy making but given us many lessons and I'm proudly saying that it has developed me as a person as well. Thank you so much once again

  • This was very motivating. I know Malala, and how she stood against terrorism and for education and girls rights. Lets hope we all draw inspiration from the young leaders like her.

  • Jayathma has really inspired me and her lessons are going to be very helpful. Thank you so much and I really hope she keeps on devising and implementing policies for youth.

  • Passion, vision, plan, action and success!
Thank you for the amazing lessons and instructors, I have learned a lot and ready to devise some policies for a happy, and peaceful world :)

  • Thank you so much

  • I think the example she's set by letting the youngster speak first is very motivating for me as well, as a youngster and give me hope that if I get the opportunity I'd be able to seize it too. I am hoping to create a similar kind of atmosphere.

  • Built up a community, start the awareness campaign through social media forums

  • Woah it has alot of questions lol but very helpful

  • These are important because if we are not ready to achieve it, we might give up on the way. Implications are important o know because it will help us devise better strategy and ability to influence and also consider where we can might fail.

  • I think timescale is the most important aspect and accountability. Without accountability we wont be able to achieve our desired outcome and timescale will give us a clear understanding and monitoring of the impact we will be trying to create.

  • Also, I am planning on discussing the problems they face in workplaces and using that as an evidence.

  • To achieve equality, I want to introduce anti harassment bill in the workplace, for women. I belong to a developing country where we still are fighting for women's rights and opportunities, where a women who raises her voice is known to be a bad person, and workplaces/ environment gets difficult to survive. I had gone through this myself. I want to introduce...

  • I like how she started out with a small idea and found so many organizations around, and then built up around it which gives me the lesson 'Change starts small'
Her story has also inspired and motivate me to work towards the workplace harassment law in Pakistan that is I'm currently working on, and I think i can adopt a similar approach.

  • Her talk was everything that I needed today, as she pointed out our responsibility as a youngster and as a change agent. It got me into thinking what I am, as an individual making choices that are environment friendly, also it gave me a possible slogan to built a campaign around this 'Make environment friendly choices' which according to me, has a lot of...

  • Excited!

  • Thank you so much Richard. I will keep my eyes open for the opportunities around me, and be consistent. This week was amazing as well and I have learned a lot.

  • I think i was looking for the answer to unbiased and compelling too, thank you so much.

  • I think representing youth and developing a policy for them is a challenging task to do, you have to keep youth in your mind and come up with an idea that could work for every country included (every country has different kind of youth)
I think it is very courageous and intelligent to come up with something that every stakeholder agreed on.
    What I have...

  • Also I would like to know when you gather alot of power around you, how to not let it drain you?

  • This is amazing. I literally very much enjoyed this lesson and key takeaways were:
    -power is important
-Working as a group could influence policy makers more
-You have to have a clear mindset to be able to implement your policy
    -Reputation is important
    -Power flows and attracts power
    -Other people can use power
    -Timing is important
    I think this lesson...

  • I think narrative is very effective tool. Also, these rules are very effective in communication as when i talk while understanding from where other person is coming from, it helps me a lot. Campaigns and trends that are based on promoting a brand doesn't do well while the ones in which there is a human interest, those always influence more

  • I personally believe that we can overcome conflicts by discussions. I have done this, there is always a way to find the middle ground most of the times unless the other party is completely of the opposite view

  • I think I have seen consensus working well in campaigns on social media, where people get persuaded and follow the trend if they like or influenced by it.
People also look up to authority, and generally follow those they regard a credible person, this I have seen working in media industry, when journalists who are known as more credible are able to persuade...

  • For peace, corruption and environment I need to influence the government, international communities like UN, Anti corruption organizations like Oxfam, transparency international etc.
For equality and making work places environment better I have to introduce a law to be implemented on all workplaces, and for laws to work we have to work with the government...

  • This initiative is amazing. way to go

  • I have also seen a gender war going on between the two genders, which is because of the power and misogyny, and i believe that it can be tackled when we understand both genders and give them their place in the society.

  • Aqse Zahra made a comment

These all things that they talked about, and what motivated them is truly motivational.
I want to change the workplace environment too, because of the criticism i received while working with most men, who believed me as to be less talented (That was because of two reasons, first I am a girl, an opinionated girl and also only 25 years old). Their constant...

  • I think the reason why me lies in the fact that I strongly believe in a change and believe that it can make lives better. I also think that I have the ability to persuade people and groups to make the change happen.

  • I think crisis is the greatest chance for me and my policies to work. First of all, we need peace during crisis and in crisis we look for solutions, so presenting my policies during crisis would make them more achievable.
Career positions is beneficial all along while elections are a great way as well, but outcome could be less favorable

  • Learning the rules is important, without working on details and knowing who to talk to, how to engage and what evidence to present we wont be able to influence people or stakeholders

  • i think this campaign he worked on was itself a difficult task, because people generally have an attitude regarding LGBTs and AIDS. I mean if i compare or think of working on this campaign in my country (which has AIDS cases too) it would be so hard to convince people. So I guess the difficult barrier was to convince the stake holders like the constable of...

  • This week sounds interesting. Excited!!

  • Thank you so much. I have learned many great things. Cheers

  • I think when he talked about using the combination of evidence data, that was pretty interesting, what i could understand is we have to have different types of evidences to implement a policy. What is a bit confusing is how to test the evidence data or make sure that it will work?

  • I think if we want the best results we need to have both approaches.Without observing we wont be able to carry out experiments better or check the different or most suitable methodologies

  • Gender equality and policies to make work places better would require data and interviews from women who have experienced problems. Opportunities for youngsters can be created by asking youngsters questions.

  • Im so inspired by FDR and the policies that he adopted to take the country out of the depression. He clearly had a vision and thought through the details to work things out. Also, the global goals inspire me so much, I love how everyone is coming together because they care not only about their countries but the world they live in, I have great hopes that...

  • I think i would be needing evidence data in stage two and three where i will share different perspectives and give solutions. I think i can influence the policy development greatly in step one and the last one.

  • My policy will contain data, stories from the people and how the problem is affecting them, videos containing evidence and then the solution. Also, I think it would be great if we know the interests of stake holders to better persuade them.

  • To test I have this idea in mind which I would like to share here.
To improve the living standards of people especially of miners in Gilgit Baltistan, the first and foremost thing to do is tell the other people about the problems they are facing there which includes food shortage and not having proper IT infrastructure.
    Data can be collected through...

  • This is so sad. Have you done something regarding this?

  • Without evidence we wont be able to devise the best possible policy. Need to hear from people or gathering data and evidence is so important. I want to understand how we can use the data in the best way possible.
Evidence influences is the most compelling, but how can we make sure that we have gathered all the possible data?or the data we have represents most...

  • Exciteddd

  • Aqse Zahra made a comment

My passion is to create peace in the world and I want to do it by promoting tolerance and understanding, by educating people how important peace is and what can we achieve by being a peaceful person. Peace can be achieved by respecting every age group, ethnicity and gender.

  • I want to create a difference in the world. Make it more peaceful and understanding by promoting tolerance and equality.

  • This is amazing. I think learning the reaction of people and how are they responding to the changes also helps us to make our policies better or change them. I would like to know more about this.

  • I am glad to understand that people, communities, stake holders, NGOs and governmental organizations, everyone takes part in policy making, which strengthen my belief in people and societies as a whole. Key take away is Societies can be changed by changing people.

  • I think equality, youth opportunities, education, climate change and diversity should be the areas to work on. Without adding youth, who forms a large population across the globe, we would not be able to achieve results and that requires understanding the generation gap and tackling them according to their needs.

  • I think this definition is the most interesting: Policy is a set of visions and outcomes, which allow stakeholders and decision makers to take and make actions that affect a group of people - or all people.
Policy making can only be effective if we achieve the positive outcome.

  • Also, I like Oprah Winfrey, how she fought all odds at that time when women were not readily embraced in television industry.
Mother Teresa and Angelina Jolie motivate me a lot as well.

  • Hello again, So I read so many leaders and I like to compare leaders of today about what they are doing and how they are doing it. From young leaders, I like Greta and love how she's fighting for climate change and she inspires me so much. I also like how Jacinda Ardern led her country in peace again after the terror attack in New Zealand. Then, I like Obama's...

  • Nelson Mandela is my inspiration as well.

  • Hello there, this is a friend from Pakistan. I believe His biggest message was peace and understanding.

  • This is amazing

  • By highlighting their achievements and work, and eliminating this thought or behavior from the culture. I know it's a bit difficult to change minds but Im hoping to achieve it someday.
World's peace- The world is a global village now and people around the world are connected in so many ways but still there is less appreciation for different races and more...

  • My passion is world's peace, eliminating differences between different genders and between youngsters and elders in a workplace.
To start with the problems that youngsters face or facing is really important to me because I started working when I was 21 (which is quite normal in western countries but not in Pakistan) and the people who were elders or working...

  • I hope you find the ways. I support your passion :)

  • Paying for it is a bit difficult job or how to find the resource, I think.

  • Yes I think talking about the problem is so important. Having discussion groups and engaging people.

  • My top priority is world peace, equality and poverty reduction. Also increased urbanization in my country and problem youngsters are facing because of generation gap.

  • I write and do campaigns on social media, and I think if i can utilize these two things into achieving the world's peace.
1- By talking about the problems (in a way that more people would like to engage)
2- Highlighting people who are doing things in that particular area
3- Have all the agencies (who are doing something to eliminate the problem)
    4- Work...

  • @VictorAyanlaja Thanks Victor. What I want to work on is, finding the middle ground or something that'd help both genders work together.

  • You've got a valid point, but what about those places were authorities have misogynist minds, which is almost everyone in the urban organizations especially media houses. I know cases where women have left the job because of the mindset. How will they move forward?

  • I am passionate about equal rights, respecting all communities and religious groups, minorities. As the world is turning into a global village and people are moving towards other countries, youngsters have a different mindset than their adults and there are refugees. But what we lack is acceptance and not giving a chance to all the people mentioned above. I...

  • Hey there I'm from Pakistan too and I fully support your passion

  • Hello everyone, While watching the video I was thinking about how if we all adopt this behavior in our daily lives too. Engaging, understanding and knowing each other and most importantly without offending each other.
I have seen this alot in here, in Pakistan- the country where I live. The workplace environment can get better if girls are treated with respect.

  • Hi everyone, I'm Aqse Zahra from Pakistan. I have studied mass communication and worked with different organizations as a social media manager. I am a social media influencer and activist as well who believes in the power of social media to impact and influence audience, and to overcome the problems that we are facing on global and national level.
    I have a...
