Activity

  • For our Dutch participants: in case "You should seek opportunities to cooperate with those in a similar position to you, wherever possible, so that you can exchange ideas and learn from each other." do join the pool of experts at Lcrdm.nl

  • The interest of researchers for a workshop only when immediately needed - this must be an experience others have too? What might be helpful here? Sort of on demand yet grouping researchers, some planning, others already writing research applications, at several moments per year?

  • Yes, attaining the CoreTrustSeal approval is a means to gain confidence here

  • Hi, I'll try to contact the right persons about this tool. It's not going as smooth as hoped for :)

  • Hi, well done I should say. I didn't read your text (did you upload it?) but what you describe in your comment looks like an excellent way of communicating. Did you also explain the concept of FAIR? Is there any chance for your text to go live at your place of work?

  • Just wondering if the padlet is working alright here - I see only one entry, is that right?

  • Hi, well, it's just a way of making sure every step research data go through is being covered by appropriate measures and safeguards. One can come up with a number of cycles, each with different accents or highlighted aspects. One 'difficulty' of course is that parts of the cycle are cycles themselves. A cycle like presented here also helps in communication...

  • Hi, please, if you find time, maybe you can elaborate on your interesting PhD? Have you just started? What will be your approach? These studies will be very helpful in our joint effort towards a (semi-)ideal world.

  • Hi, yes, interesting to be self-employed in this area, my guess is that this can be successfull. Maybe you can share how you plan to go about?

  • Maybe try this one at one's place of work: how many research projects started in 2019? How many Data Management Plans have been submitted in the same year? What explains the difference? And if information is hard to find, let's start with getting these numbers clear. What do you think?

  • Please, anyone, share any information you deem relevant, don't hesitate. If it comes to discpline specifics, maybe this one is worth having a look at: https://www.scienceeurope.org/our-resources/guidance-document-presenting-a-framework-for-discipline-specific-research-data-management

  • I may not understand your question correctly - or is it that you expect to see these case studies and do'nt see them here? One should click through to the next pages for them to appear. Please, let us know where we can help

  • @Raoul Teeuwen - Webinars and live contact at logical moments are great ideas.
@all participants Do/Will your DM support services include (localised) practical training on various subjects? Which subjects are in more demand than others?

  • Just curious, all participants, do the DMP templates your institutes provide use tick boxes and/or conditional responses in dialogues or similar means to cover for the details like in the above examples?

  • Hi Joel, that sounds great. If you find time maybe you could write a bit on the benefits of research data management for your business?

  • Hi Elize, inspiring to read about your activities. Maybe you can appreciate some of the sensitive data related infographics and reports at https://www.lcrdm.nl/en/guidelines-privacy (Do let me know if you find these useful?)

  • Hi Elize, the link to Essentials does work. I do hope you (and others) will visit the link (and maybe you want to edit your comment? :)

  • Hi Judith, you touch upon a serious issue. I guess lots of people here will recognize this but some or many may also have experience with motivating reserachers. Some things on this are said in comments and in the exercises here. It will be a kind of balance, what can be done for the researcher through e.g. data stewards, what are small things a researcher can...

  • @BertHuizing Agreed with creating tangible services. I guess the cycle will help supporters determine what services will be needed. There are quite many cycles to be found, each with different accents, it's worth having a look.

  • Responsibility and ethics are certainly important issues! Data management plans may be of help here. As for rewards: here is a link to a recent publication by Dutch funders, the association of universities and the Academy of Sciences on striving for a new balance in the recognition and rewards of academics:...

  • Thank you for sharing!

  • RDM is absolutely part of good research practice - yet too often the focus is on the publication of the interpretation of research results. RDM policy should make clear what the consequences are of sloppy RDM as well as state responsibilities for each level of the organisation, such as who is responsible for the provision of what infrastructure and sufficient...

  • One cannot curate data for unforeseen future use so additional curation may take place at some moment long after final storage and at the beginning of a new research. It makes sense the new user will have to finance this. Documentation accompanying data is very important.

  • Hi everyone, I'm Boudewijn and I'm Dutch. I am added as a team member for this course as a colleague of Ellen and René mentioned above: I represent SURFsara, third partner of the Research Data Netherlands alliance which was involved in creating this course.
I have an MA in Linguistics and years of experience as a research assistant in language research. I...
