Malay is the national language of Malaysia, and it is one of the many languages spoken in Asia. In this course, the basic grammar of Malay language is introduced, such as personal pronouns, nouns, verbs, adjectives and auxiliaries. Utilising the dialogues, transcriptions and videos prepared, learners learned to construct simple sentences using basic Malay vocabulary. Learners were immersed in Malay culture, cuisine, history and interesting places in Malaysia such as Melaka, Penang and Langkawi.

  • Identify common words and basic phrases about yourself, family and friends for communication purposes.
  • Identify regular nouns, words and simple sentences around you, for example on notice boards, posters or in a catalog.
  • Apply simple phrases and simple sentences to describe where you live and people you know.

  • Reading and listening to dialogues about yourself, foods and interesting places.
  • Understanding the basic grammar through the use of personal pronouns, verbs, adjectives, plurals, conjunctions, prepositions and auxiliaries.
  • Learning basic words and phrases i.e. greeting people, asking and answering simple questions.
  • Writing and speaking activities.
  • Introducing Malaysian culture, various foods and interesting places in Malaysia.
