Discover the basics of user experience

User experience, known as UX, makes a huge difference to whether a digital product, or project, succeeds. On this course, you will learn what UX is and why it’s so important. You’ll learn the foundations of UX design and what distinguishes good from bad UX. You will also explore the UX design process; user research, designing your experience, using your goals and ideas to draw wireframes and then building usable prototypes.

Finally, we will look at the different techniques you can use to test and develop your designs, so that they’re ready to release to the market.

Skip to 0 minutes and 10 seconds Hi, I’m Jack, and I work in digital and analytics. And welcome to the User Experience Module.

Skip to 0 minutes and 15 seconds In this model, there are five lessons: User experience - the basics; Understanding your users; Designing the experience; User testing; and Developing and releasing your design. By the end of this module, you should be able to understand what UX is, why it is important, and the foundations of UX design. Understand the design process and how to create a good UX design with activities such as user journeys, wireframes, and prototypes. Understand what user testing is and why it is important. And finally, understand interaction and visual design and the importance of analysing user data when developing and releasing your design. The module will be assessed in two ways.

Skip to 0 minutes and 56 seconds At the end of each lesson, there is a multiple choice quiz containing five questions - all based on the content covered in the videos - to help you see how much you’ve learned. Additionally, at the end of the module, there is a task you can complete and upload to the site. In this task, you have the opportunity to go beyond what is taught in the videos and learn even more about the UX. We hope you enjoy the module.
