Introduction to Week 1
This week we will focus on development and planning and discuss major changes in the evolution of planning in Africa and Sierra Leone.
We will firstly explore major trends related to urban growth. We will then introduce two normative lenses that we will be using throughout the course to analyse a number of issues. These are the concepts of spatial justice and diversity.
We will conclude the week by looking at practical examples of spatial injustice, and of the importance of recognizing diversity in development and planning.
