Welcome from Professor Dilip Nathwani, OBE

Short welcome to the course from BSAC and Professor Dilip Nathwani
6.8
Hello. I’m delighted to introduce this massive open online course, MOOC, on antimicrobial stewardship aimed at healthcare professionals working in Africa. It recognises particularly the important role of nurses in delivering African antimicrobial stewardship. This MOOC builds on our success with the global MOOC on antimicrobial stewardship, which has been running since 2015. More than 45,000 delegates from more than 163 countries have participated in this MOOC, which is now available in four different languages. I’m really pleased to introduce this particular course which has been developed by ICAN in collaboration with the British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy and FutureLearn. It represents an important part of my personal journey to take and deliver an e-learning resource that is relevant to real world African healthcare practice.

It is made by a faculty of African clinicians and it is for use by African healthcare professionals. I sincerely hope that you find it valuable to your everyday practice and may I take this opportunity to wish you the very best of luck?

This course has been developed through a collaboration between the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC), Infection Control Africa Network (ICAN) and Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

In this video Professor Dilip Nathwani, OBE (President of BSAC 2015 – 2018) Vice President of BSAC welcomes you to this course.
