This week, we will work with a case study of a 45 year old man, Mr Rahman, who is experiencing a cough and shortness of breath. Does he have Chronic Respiratory Disease (COPD) or another respiratory condition?

Throughout this week we will:

  • Explore the risk factors, presenting symptoms and the process of a diagnosis of COPD
  • Explore the diagnostic pathway and tools such as spirometry and chest x-ray
  • Discuss assessment and management of COPD in primary care
  • Consider the development and progression of COPD
  • Review preventative and management interventions such as vaccination, pulmonary rehabilitation and smoking cessation
