What comes next in week 2
What comes next in week 2 ?

In week 1 you have learned about the various packaging materials and their contact with foods and drinks. You have also visited a chemistry laboratory and listened to two interviews. In week 2 you will face the fact that some chemicals present in foods/drinks as well as in the environment may pose a health concern, either directly or indirectly. You will learn the basics of endocrinology and epidemiology and will be faced with emerging global health trends pointing to low but detectable endocrine disruption effects

Specifically will learn and discuss the following: the fact that some chemicals can migrate from contact materials (packaging and kitchenware, but not only) into foods and drinks. How chemical analyses spend efforts to detect these chemicals. The suspected action of migrating chemicals on our hormonal health. Begin to ask yourself if there could be a health concern. Move from suspect to evidence: a) the need of epidemiology when dealing with human health, b) how to obtain direct evidence from the cell tests and the bio-tests.

You will also watch two valuable interviews with these key experts: Dr. Patrizia Bovolin, that will tell us about the bioactivity of chemicals, and Dr. Tiziana Schilirò, an epidemiologist that will discuss about upcoming health trends.

We look forward seeing you next week.
